My Flooded Basement

I live in a newly built house (3 years old), the builders used a decent sump pump but didn't attach the pipes that well. We had 10 inches of snow a week ago and its been raining badly here in Michigan.
So I come home to water ROCKETING out of the sump hole into my basement....I am on break now. I have shop-vac'ed 60 gallons of water so far...with no end in sight. There is probably another 200 gallons to get the bulk of the water, not to mention the cleaning, repair, etc.

I know your pain. I hope you got all of the water out. Get a good dehumidifier or you will develop mold problems. I have friends who went away on vacation for a week. Their rubber water hose that feed the washer broke soon after they left. It ran for the entire time they were way. Their wash room was on the second floor. 100k in damages not to mention the huge water bill.

I'm sorry! This is a terrible thing to have happen. A long time ago the same thing happened to my mom and dad. There must have been 4 foot of standing water in the basement :bnghd: Luckily it was a daylight basement with an a sliding glass door, so the power was cut to the house and my dad waded through and opened the sliding door so it could all rush out. What a mess though. I feel for you too.
