These people aren't messing around... already some published results/information along with a recent presented paper at the AAR in San Diego.

www.suscitatio.com...

Please take a moment over the next few hours or days to sit down and complete the VEWRS and AVEWRS research surveys and submit to us via e-mail. These surveys cover a diversity of topics including but not limited to: energy work and manipulation (whether by natural ability, raised during magickal ritual, or otherwise), psychic and sanguinarian vampirism, paranormal activities, psi-related experiences, magick, occult, spirituality, therianthropy, otherkin, and awakenings (you do NOT have to identify with modern vampirism to participate in this study). Any information contained within the surveys that aren’t applicable feel free to choose “Not Applicable” or leave blank when this choice is not given. The AVEWRS (Part 2) covers the topics outlined above in considerably more detail than the VEWRS (Part 1), therefore, if possible please complete both surveys (in order); submitting individually as they are completed. If you have any questions (please read the FAQ first) we’re available to answer them via the e-mail address given below. We thank you for your participation and support of this important research study!

For the detailed purpose, definition and precedent background, ethical and privacy procedures, and all other information regarding this privately funded study please refer to the surveys themselves or the web site listed above.

Focus Group: Those who identify themselves as practitioners of modern psychic (psi) or sanguinarian (blood) vampi(y)rism with a joint focus on energy workers or practitioners (psions, energetic healers, or others who manipulate psi/pranic energy). Additionally those who identify with therianthropy, otherkin, and as being "awakened" individuals are sub-branched in the overall classification.

Format: Two surveys (both structured to be independent or linked with one another, with first being an introductory examination and the second an advanced examination), anonymous participation requirement, embedded random+intentional response indicators, available in MSWord, HTML Text Format, or Printed Distributed Format. VEWRS (Survey 1) = Questions 1 - 379 (11 Categories); AVEWRS (Survey 2) = Questions 380 - 988 (5 Categories)

I checked out the page and then I googled the company and I can't find any documented, peer reviewed scientific papers at all. Just the goth wannabe vampires from the Atlanta Vampire Alliance.

So far as I can tell, these guys are NOT real scientists, they're just dressing up their fantasies in social science terms and making fancy graphs.

Surveys aren't real science -- anybody can say anything they like on a form. Sorry.

Interesting stuff, looking through the survey now.

MMF, you don't believe in anything paranormal so what difference does it make if they're real scientists or not
?

It makes all the difference. Just like ministers pretending that intelligent design is science.

Just doing my job, sir.

I know I was just giving you a hard time heh.

I am taking the survey now and the questions are pretty much all about the typical paranormal ESP subjects: clairvoyance, sentience, etc etc...Family history of a spiritual nature, what is your personal beliefs, are you a vampire
?

The vampirism part is a bit strange. I have not researched this topic in depth, but the more I read about it the deeper I become involved with it...

This is what I mean by it not being science. Subjective experiences aren't the real deal.

Careful, now, or I may have to debunk you. And you know that ain't pretty.

The surveys are interesting just from an anthropological or sociological perspective. I took them about a month ago and submitted by e-mail. The 2nd survey (AVEWRS) goes into EXTREME detail on psi-related or paranormal related experiences, abilities, spiritual, energy work, psychic vampirism, magick, and other beliefs whereas the 1st survey (VEWRS) is largely background, medical, family, experiences, vampirism, awakening, and ethics. While much is of course subjective there is always significance in correlating reported phenomena across multiple social niches, age demographics, and identity label groups. It's like putting together a large puzzle without edges especially when you start looking at the higher than normal prevalence rates for reported medical conditions comorbid with psychic/psi abilities; could some of this be neurobiological, biochemical, psychosomatic, spiritual, supernatural, medical, etc? Fun and though provoking stuff!

OK, fun and thought provoking, I'll buy, but scientific absolutely not.

That was my only bone to pick, seriously.

First of all, people's subjective experiences are what are going to be reported, and people can misinterpret things that happen -- I've done it myself, back when I thought things went bump in the night. Then there are outright liars, and mentally ill people.

No offense meant, I just don't like it when people say something is scientific when it really isn't. Science gets enough of a bad rap from creationists without being used to label things that aren't really science.

Carry on. I'll stop skepticking now.

Yeah, I went to art school, and everyone I knew there was a vampire, vampire hunter, or some sort of psychic or witch or elven descendant. Now, witches are generally labelled such by practice, so it is hard to blow that off, but my point is that I have a feeling most of the data collected will come from artsy folks who have a keen interest in all of this. No matter what the reality is, they will wish so hard they had such abilities and experiences that they will write down all kinds of stuff. I am with MMF on this one. You cant have a real scientific study- how can they really find out anything useful? Is this involving a "control group"?
BTW- sounds specifically oriented to people who believe they are vampires and/or have specific ESP capabilities- it seems like a waste of time for someone like me. Is that correct? I like reading/researching occult and paranormal stuff, but I dont want to waste my time.

I don't think I consume others' blood so in that sense I am not a singuine (sp?) vampire, nor do I consume others' energy so I'm not a psychic vampire either.

I would consider myself somewhat of an introvert and it seems at times people may be in fact draining me...

I don't know if I'd use the word 'vampire,' but the concept of draining people is definitely real.

Are there any people that you feel physically tired around due to their A). high intensity of energy, B). boring, or C). unknown ... well they may be a vampire of sorts.

(I know you don't like using that word MMF
but the reality of these people can be seen in everyday life).

My sister and I refer to extremely needy people as "emotional vampires". They suck the life out of you with every conversation. They are those self-centered types who latch on to you and fill your conversations with all of their (real or perceived) drama. Everyone knows one. They never ask about you or your life. They are not givers, just takers. It isnt a pranormal entity, but a very annoying personality type. The loss of energy you feel after an encounter is quite real, though.

The only person who said the words scientific study were you. It's a research study. You are picking a bone with a point you, yourself created. If they professed themselves as scientists then I would understand but you are putting words in their mouths and then arguing with a point they never proffered. It's a silly ploy and reminds me of the way politics are run on the media circuit.

Just an FYI, everyone is allowed to do their own research. And everyone is allowed to write a research paper and present their results. You don't need a string of letter behind your name to do so. Another point is there is such a thing as empirological evidence.

Again. Who said science? You.

It's a survey and it says so right on the site. I guess my only bone to pick with this thread is people getting uppity about "debunking" on points that were never held by the ones you were attacking. I guess we should debunk you for knowingly spreading lies and willing inventing fabrications to put into the mouths of the people you are defaming?
