Advanced life created in two ancient explosions

As always, I am searching for answer's that I always ask myself over and over, with some of the details of my inquiries being answered piece by piece, but never entirely.... Go figure...lol

I guess, being's I am not a bonified geologist or arche/paleontologist, I am always allowed to question everything and "Deny Ignorance" to all possible probabilities and acception's to the purverbial rules.

I wonder what caused the earlier one to fail.

When was the original Earth pounded by something from space forming the moon? I don't know if it's really relevant, just my first thoughts.
