White House Won't Tap Emergency Oil Reserves

WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House on Wednesday ruled out a release of fuel from the nation's oil reserves to drive down soaring prices.
"This president would not use the (Strategic Petroleum Reserve) to manipulate (prices) unless there was a true emergency," said White House press secretary Dana Perino. "Right now we understand that prices are high and demand is extremely high."

She said Bush was focused on ways to increase oil supply in the United States.

Yes, a national emergency such as simultaneous invasions by Canada and Mexico (after they’ve agreed on where to put their new border) in combination with an OPEC oil embargo and Hugo Chavez repeatedly saying “neener neener” could be most problematic for the Great Satan(USA).

I agree that it's inappropriate to see $100/barrel as an emergency. Storm in a teacup and other relevant clichés apply here.

maybe , USA will soon be part of OPEC Yes because when The Great Satan takes over most of the world it will become a PEC (Petroleum Exporting Country) well sort of… not really… and will be able to export oil from parts of its foreign empire to its own heartland and elsewhere.
