People mostly think of wolves attacking sheep but packs of dogs are common attackers as well, especially when they're the largest predator.
No source, something I read and have seen in use, on a horse farm during foaling season. To scare off wild dogs, the severed head of a captured wild
dog was left on the ground at access points, used as far back as dogs have been a problem for farmers (10000+yrs?). Dogs smell them out alright, even
when they're left in long grass for example.
