The problem is just like Betty Hill's "star map" you could overlay just about any star map on top of it and get a match. You're also talking about orientation, size and brightness variables.

You're dangerously close, but try asking some different questions.

Well, Jeff, since nobody wants to play I would appreciate your opinion of what we see in these photos.

I'm confused JRitzman, and since you are the recommended expert, I'm really curious as to what you mean!

IAttackPeople's post seems right on the money to me. This looks like Orion, with the belt hidden by clouds, and the match up is REALLY close... Also, we know from the whole F.A.S.T. debacle (and numerous testimonies, including my own) that stars look similar when your camera/telescope can't quite resolve on them.

To me it just looks like stars...(and some really pretty clouds).

What am I missing here? How is the analysis off?
I'm curious to know. Image analysis is not my forte, and I'm interested in learning from those who know more.
