Lets face. Everyone wants to be something. Wether they are leading the sheep, or merely following, everybody searches for some sort of belonging.

Example: How many of you check this forum EVERYDAY?

Secret societies were made because people wanted to be secure. There are countless secret societies out there, with varing levels of intensity, but I don't think they have as deep a political and social impact as you might like to think. Let's face it, there are over 6 billion people in the world, and unless you have or know something, and someone told a lot of people about it, nobody really cares what you are doing.
Too many people run around paranoid, thinking they are being watched. Seriously tho, unless the government thinks you have a bunker loaded with missles and anti-american terrorists, no one is really going to care what you do on a day-to-day basis.

How many of us would like to be in the loop? To know something that everyone else doesn't? To be a part of an exclusive group, that only a few can be part of? Welcome to the world of the serect society.

In my opinion, the biggest 'secret socitey' is the people behind the scenes of the big media moguls. They would be the ones I worry about, be they have the power to change the opinion of a nation. They have the ability to put out information, wether misleading or completely false, and the rest of the world follows suit.

Agreed that it is about security which is manifested in numerous manners eg. power, inclusiveness, money, position and recognition etc.

Granted, majority of our pathetic species is sheep, this statement is certainly not true for everyone. Some people just dont give a f*&.

Grankor!!
Ive made a speech about EXACTLY what your talking about. but mine was about society in general. It goes back to when Men were still Wild. If you werent in a group you were vunderable. If I said anything else i would just be repeating what you said. So, I just agree with you 100%.

The exact same thing I have tried to say in so many threads here regarding privacy and such.
IF you ARE NOT doing something wrong...DON'T worry about it.
How many of you ALWAYS carry your ID with you when you go out? Some people drive without their drivers lic.
In some countries you get caught with no ID and it's slammer time or at least a chat with the Military Police and their exercise routine..and these are DEMOCRATIC countries...

I kind of agree with you there, but those people fall into the sheep catagory.
Lets put this kind of an attitude into a Darwinistic setting.
People, without their brains, have less chance than a monkey to survive. We are weak, and have no natural defenses or weapons to protect ourselves. Hell, we can't even kill a COW without the assistance of something.

Okay, so a heard of people are setting in a field, eating berries. The leader of this group decides they are going to move. The guy who doesn't give a F**K says "You guys can go, I don't care."

Group leaves him behind, and eventually he gets eaten, hurts himself and dies, or manages so somehow survive until a natural death, never procreating.

I'm just making it simple, cause I don't feel like making specific phsycological or anthropological references.

But, basically what I'm saying, is that people feel the natural urge to belong to something, to be protected. Otherwise nature kills you off.
