do you ever feel 'connected' to someone who has died and you don't know?

i really don't know how to say what i want. i figure i will get laughed off or others will have felt it too.

i 'feel' like i have some sort of connection to frank zappa. maybe connection is not the right word but thats what i am going to use..
why do i feel this way?

for starters, his philosophy on life matches mine. his music speaks to me.

then there are small things like this example...

for years i have been saying 'don't let your meat loaf'....just something i say to people. i have been saying much before i even heard a zappa tune...

cut to years later and i am listening to a song and sure as hell man, frank pops out the line 'don't let your meat loaf..ha ha ha'

kinda tripped me out. my beliefs and my views on life have also been the way they are before i discovered frank zappa.

he has been dead for 14 years(it was 14 years on the 4th. of this month, just shy of 53 years old.

anyone else have similar feelings towards a certain person.

i feel a bit of a connection to kurt cobain sometimes, but that might just be because i have a lot of people telling me i look like him.

like you, i agree with the philosophy of my connected person and his music speaks to me.

someone once asked me, a bit before i had gotten into music seriously, where my personality comes from, i responded with something along the lines of "i just take parts from fictional characters and other people"
something from kurt cobain "I use bits and pieces of others personalities to form my own."

a lot of quotes of his just sync with me. "John Lennon has been my idol all my life but he's dead wrong about revolution...find a representative of gluttony or oppression and blow the mother*lover*'s head off." that's been the sentiment that i've always been thinking for so long, yet have been trying to fight off

"I knew I was different. I thought that I might be gay or something because I couldn't identify with any of the guys at all. None of them liked art or music, they just wanted to fight and get laid. It was many years ago but it gave me this real hatred for the average American macho male." is another one i just identify with.

he died when i was a wee lad, i remember my parents listened to nevermind and the nirvana unplugged album all day. oddly enough, i think that was the first time i really enjoyed listening to music in my life.

I've a friend of mine who is convinced that I'm a reincarnation of Nikola Tesla. I have a wierd affinity for electrical devices. The stranger the device the better. I love nothing better than to take something odd, put it on a table, look at it and ask "what are you?". Then I have a blast figureing out what it does, and how to work it. I have a wierd affinity for such things.
