Hillary Clinton Analogy - (Mrs. Brett Favre)

By the way, the Green Bay Packers, a shocking announcement today.

Their starting quarterback this Sunday will be Mrs. Brett Favre. Fans in Green Bay were shocked when this announcement was made, but Mrs. Favre assured the fans that, "Hey, I know this game. I live with Brett. I have taken several road trips on the team plane. I've gone to the pregame meal. I know a lot of the Packers. I've played around with a lot of the Packers in the back yard. I've tossed the football with them, and I know what a slot right 60-Prevent-Slot-Hook-And-Go is and I know how to avoid a corner blitz." So they polled the people in Green Bay, 50% of Packers fans are excited, motivated, looking forward to the big game.

All right, you think that's ridiculous? Let me reread this.

In a shocking announcement today, Mrs. Hillary Clinton announced that she is running for president of the United States because she knows Bill Clinton and has lived with him, and she was there on a lot of trips to China and around the world, and she really cared about kids for 35 years. She's fought and she stood up for kids, and she's tried to fix health care, and she knows fifty percent of the American people say, "That's good enough for us."

Ignorance.

analogy fails... hillary has political experience as a senator... she's also a quite intelligent person that is perfectly qualified for office (though you may disagree with her positions on policy)

this is just useless slander.

To that I ask you this.

What makes her quaified to be President of the United States?

Please, give me 3 things that shows how intelligent and qualified she is.

I can name 3 things...
1.) Natural born or naturalized citizen of the US.
2.) minimum age of 35 years old.
3.) 14 years of continous residency within the US.

Seems she has the same qualifications that every other president has had.

as to intelligence...
1. She quite correctly raised the looming Healthcare crisis.
2. She has served 7 years as a senator from N.Y.
3. She is a respected member of the Armed Service Committee.

This is a silly point to try and get across. The game of Football and the Presidency are two quite different things. She is a lawyer, she is a christian, she is in one of the two parties that gets fair representation, she was a Senator, she has been a public figure for about two decades now. Or maybe it's that the NFL is for boys. Are you insinuating Hillary can't be president because she's a woman?

I can't stand Hillary Clinton and i will not be happy if she is elected President. But, whether you agree with her opinions or not, she is just as qualified to run as anyone else is.

Maybe you should spend some more time attacking her policies. They have a lot more holes than her qualifications do.

Nyk537 good thread I have to say that I agree with you so that I don't have much else to say other then that behind closed doors Hillary would be glad that Obama is in the race because he is takes the inexperienced tag away from her. It is a shame that Obama lacks experience because he has something that has been lacking good sense.

No no no. Those are not qualifications. Those are REQUIREMENTS. My father-in-law has those requirements and he is in no way qualified to be president.

I said to give me 3 things that make her QUALIFIED to be president. She has stated numerous times that she is "uniquely qualified" to be president. I would just like to know how.

It is funny though, no matter how many times I've asked this question to hundreds of people, I always get those same "qualifications". I wonder if that's saying anything?

Her career goes all the way back to the Nixon years. Wasn't she on the committee that was working on impeaching him? I think I remember seeing pictures of her (very young) at one of those tables in Congress, etc etc.

Anyone remember that?? (or am I showing my age?? )

but i think the question as to qualification has been answered.
she's demonstrated that she knows the workings of the political system and has more than half a brain (looking at the current president, one realizes that half a brain isn't even necessary)

Hmmm... three things that qualify Hillary to be the president?

Well...:

1. She is part of the Council on Foreign relations.

2. She has been bought and paid for by the Federal Reserve.

3. She is willing to pre-emptively nuke Iran.

How's that? I think those are some universally accepted qualifications, at least for the mainstream candidates.

I don't know your political affiliation or your choice for president in 08, but judging from your post I'd say that your candidate probably has the exact same qualifications as Hillary Clinton. That is to say, unless you are supporting Dennis Kucinich or Ron Paul, the person you've chosen is just as corrupt and unqualified as Mrs. Clinton.

Faux News and CNN want you to think that they are different and that you have a "choice" but in reality almost all the candidates have these same three "qualifications."

Deadbang has already said it. In addition, she has been in politics since she was in high school, way before she met Bill Clinton, and she was a very successful lawyer for many years (you may not like lawyers, but you have to agree it takes brains to graduate from one of the top law schools in the country and then to practice law in a prestigious firm). She's written a successful book. She's been an outspoken advocate for environmental issues, children's issues, and a host of other causes. Etc. etc.

Many people vote because they like a "brand." Millions voted for George W. Bush because they liked his father and assumed his administration would be much like George Senior's. By the same token, many who liked Bill Clinton's administration will vote for Hillary because they assume hers will be similar, although she has some differences (Bill Clinton was a free trader while she's not, etc).

I'm not sure who I will vote for, but I respect and admire Hillary Clinton.

about that healthcare ...

Hillary's healthcare plan is the same that Bill had. None.

Mandates and recommended minimums for providers. It's not a plan. Any sort of Universal Healthcare plan WILL FAIL.

The only way for people to affrod adequate healthcare is to get the government OUT of the way. Let the market determine the price ... much like cell phones, or computers. Prices drop when the providers are forced to compete.

Simple capitalism.

Unfortunately tyranny22 is wrong about Hillary not having a plan for health care. She does, a bad one, health care for everyone no matter what it costs or how badly it works. Most people who want health care in this country CAN get it if they choose, it's as if these people have no money. These people eat fast food and have a television in their house.

As for the analogy of Mrs. Favre, it is accurate. Mrs. Clinton tells us her qualifications ARE that she was in the whitehouse for 8 years. It's not what the qualifications are, its that she has said is not a qualification.

As far as her true qualifications, not so much.
She is a senator, so? The job of a senator is not an executive position, president is.
The president should be upholding the constitution, she's shown multiple that she would rather work around it.
I know that gender is a bad thing to bring up, there are some countries who would not listen to her simply because she's a woman. I know that is going to get me labeled a sexist. My point is that she will have to get someone to speak for her, its normal to send diplomats instead of going in person anyway so this is not a big deal.
Well, its not a problem until you factor in that SHE would pick them. Look at the choices so far. She has had multiple persons just in her campaign that have "acted on their own." These rogue individuals have never been under her control (or have they?) and they were never openly reprimanded for the actions they took. This is a very serious problem, the president sets up the cabinet, these people MUST be trustworthy AND responsible for what they do. If they get out of line they MUST be corrected, Hillary shows us she has problems doing this.
