I found this rather interesting video brochure for Gulfstream's new Quiet Super Sonic Travel corporate aircraft. The video is slick and filled with the resiquit hyperbole.

Nonetheless, a little interesting fact: The QSST technology was apparently developed by Lockheed skunk works. The plane can travel up to Mach 1.8 without a sonic boom. I wonder how much more advance Aurora and current military skunk works are comparatively....

Here's the vid.

Its an interesting concept that has been a on again off again search for a answer to the boom. Looks pretty sweet with the blended wing body and tail.

Have to say though for a commercial that awesome the main website is cr@p. And the interior visuals are so so.
www.saiqsst.com...

oh and a neat little bit of info that the “QSST” will have a “shaped sonic signature” less than 1/100th of the “sonic boom” created by the recently retired Concorde.

The QSST program’s development cost is estimated to be around $2.5 billion dollars, which will include three production flight test aircraft and two static testing aircraft..

If they can do that we may want to look into it for a Attack bomber for the CF lol. Try and lower per unit production costs and get a deal.

That thing looks stupid, like they bolted a couple of trent 772s to a kids glider, and by the looks of it, for it's size it has a terrible capacity

HAHA well I guess if you want to look at it like that. The Capacity issue is an intentional one. With 12 passangers its for a company that wants to buy the plane and fly high end Biz types world wide. They are looking at a stretch version for 18-24 people and that would in my opinion be much more profitable in the long run. Its also a demo aircraft for the new boom surpression tech as well for Skunkworks so its fufilling a duel role.

It looks like a mish-mash of a Tu-144, Have Blue and the SR-71.

Oddly, it also has more than a passing resemblance to a lot of artists impressions of what "Aurora" might look like (if it exists)

another supposed concorde replacement was in the times today, the Aerion, similar price and capacity, and a far more conventional design

Timesonline

Apparently they're already taking deposits.
