hd tv's lcd question

It is just me or are HD tv lcd's content terrible? I just bought sharp 37 in aquos
for my ps3 and blue ray movies.

After watching 300 im not impressed at all. lots of little dots flickering, kinda look like pixles (grainy). say if u have a persons face is doesn't look solid it looks like its made up of littles dots that you can see. very annoying. MA i the only one that sees this? I look at lots of ld 1080p tvs and they all looked like this. I don't get what the big hype is.
if i had enough money id buy a sony rear projection. Those those really good.

Can anyone tell my why these tv's are granny looking?

On the other hand the Ps3 games look outstanding.

Is it because the some blue-ray movies were not actually shot with hd camera?

The problem you are experiencing is probably do to the fact that your tv now can show how poor a tv signal you have.

I suspect you have a regular def signal-ie not satilite or digital cable.

Your old tv was probably a 480I unit and could not display all those imperfection in the signal.

The reason your PS3 looks so good is it is sending a high def signal to the tv.

You will notice right away if the output is in HD or SD on a HDTV. On the PS3, you must set its output to HD, choose the same as your TV has a max output of. I think the only way to get HD with PS3 is HDMI cable.

What connections are you using? One can have all the nice appliances they want but if the wires are of poor quality or technology, it's useless. For HD, you should most definitely be using HDMI or DVI over Component, etc.

It would not be because of the type of camera used, since literally all new movies today are shot in HD.

I am not sure what causes it. I don't own an HD TV but I was at WalMarts and was watching an NFL video they were playing on their wall of TV's and I noticed what you're talking about.

It's like the picture looks good, like its better than average, but if you look at the detail it looks totally fake - something rather unexpected.

It almost looks like it makes real world images and turns them into images that looks like SimCity created them or something.

The picture quality for display models such as those at Walmart is generally quite degraded due to the fact that they use signal splitters and what not for the potential to display the image on multiple TVs simultaneously.

But yeah, it probably is a little hard to get used to, and some might not even like the change. Personally after watching shows and movies in full HD, even DVDs seem as if I went all the way back to VHS

Just an update on this. I recently bought an HD cable for my PS3, the 3 for video, 2 for audio one, not the HDMI.

I rented a few movies from my online rental place in DVD and Blueray format. The diffrence was amazing! I cannot see ever wanting to return to DVDs after seeing the quality of Blueray on an HDTV using the HD Imput.

I tested some old movies aswell. Close Encounters of the 3rd kind form 1975. First the I poped in the DVD and was not impressed. It lookedl like an old movie. Next I put in the blue ray, and wow. Every one watching noticed the huge diffrence, it looked like any recently made movie. The quality was so amazing my sisters boys didnt even realize they were watching a movie 33 years old!
