I think that in a way, the first robots that could play music were the old player pianos, which had programs of punched rolls of paper, but would also preserve the performances of the muscians who produced those rolls.

This is a little different, as there is now a digital program and the humanoid robot actually holds a violin and plays it.

Well, don't take my word for it.

LOL well gundams reallly are not that far fetched. I heard a story from a old professor of mine about some college students who built a walking platform. They went to file a patent on it, 2 weeks later they had dropped out of college.
