Luciferian Gnostics and their Counterparts

My understanding of 'luciferian' gnostics is that their general assumption is that the earth and our reality here represents a prison for souls. Some among them seek to escape by force of will (ascension). I've noticed over the years there seems plenty of people @ ATS who subscribe to this general stance.

My question here is what is the gnostic flipside sect to this, that believes the earth is a benevolent 'kindergarten' of souls?

I've never heard of this but it seems like it could be a good read. I look forward to replies.
