Please help me find dirt on Ron Paul

What? His district of Texas can't fund all that stuff by itself, like he expects all other states to do?

The income tax forces the current system to exist. Almost all the tax money is sent to the Federal Government, and then representatives have to argue to get it sent right back where it came from. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget so if the budget was unbalanced it might not have been his fault, but if it is, he is going to say "nope try again."

Now under a system with no IRS, meaning that State now has control of practically all it's (productive at least) wealth, instead of half lol, it would be entirely fair to expect the 144th district of Texas to be able to fund it's own shrimp research, wouldn't it?

I see what you're saying, and you know you make a very valid point.

On the other hand, i happen to enjoy his role in Congress. It makes me feel good that at least one Congressman understands that government was meant to be mainly run by the states, not the federal. Despite the fact that he obviously doesn't belong as an active member of a process he doesn't support, it gives me hope that with enough nagging, it may some day change.

To hear him tell it, he's the one and only politician who isn't a hypocrite, who doesn't agree with government spending, and who has read the constitution - all while selling out his own ideals, rolling in pork, and claiming parts of the constitution are unconstitutional.

It seems to me that this is the only way he can get money to his district because that's where the vast majority of tax dollars go. I don't blame him for putting his district ahead of his principles.

Nor do I. In fact it's actually a sign - one of the few I've seen - that the man may have a lick of common sense. "I think this, but the people who elected me think that... let's go with that"

The trouble is, he keeps running on the positions that he sells out on. If he were to just give in, say to his constituents and national supporters "You know, I'll go with what you decide is best for you," rather than telling people what's best for them and inferring that they're stupid if they disagree, he could actually start catching real support.
