Jewish and masonry (The everything thread)

I am curious if truths,lies and all things in the middle about Judaism and masonry. No need for extensive arguements as Ip ut standard disclaimer as to both truth and lies.

I hav head there are many link or deatils symbolic of a connection, inspiration shared etc.

Another interesting tiidbit whih as maybe a more romantic thought is within the degreees it starts to contact the Compass/Square but again not finishing it. Much like a hint of what's to come next,

Lies: That there is some conspiracy theory related to either jews or masonry.

Truth: Judaism is a religion, masonry is a fraternity. Some jews are also masons.

While I have never sat down to study Judaic symbolism I can state fairly certain that the symbols them selves are not Jewish at all..

A good portion of Masonic teachings, as an allegory of course, come from the Old Testament, which is also the Jewish Torah.

The same can be said for the Scottish Rite, that Old Testament teachings are prevalent however so are some New Testament. In the York Rite it is exclusively Christian I am told, I am not a York Rite Mason and have not been through the degrees.

However, I do not see this to mean that Masonry is actually Jewish at all, for one both Christian and Jews read the Old Testament so you could say it is still primarily Christian teachings that are used in allegorical displays to convey a meaning to the general population of initiated Masons, which happen to be Christian, thus better understood.

Hope that cleared some up a bit, though Masonic Light would probably give you the best answer, he is far more knowledgeable when it comes to the symbols and mysticism of Masonry.

as a side note the Old testament in Christian theology is the Jewish Tanach

The Torah is only the first 5 books, and is part of the Tanach
