Don't believe it would increase intelligence, but, my SO is a neonatal nurse, they play "kiddie tunes" (Old McDonald etc etc) all the time, she says it does make a big difference in how calm the premies are.

Yeah, it's not like the unborn are deaf. Newborns are drawn to their mother's voice, because they've been hearing it since they had ears.

By some God-awful chance I have kids, I would never play Mozart for them. For some strange reason, I don't believe in most of that stuff that tells you it'll make kids smart. However, I do believe Radiohead would make excellent bed-time lullabies.

I don't know how good music is for creating intelligence, however I did a paper on it for college a few years ago and found it is amazing for health benifits of all kinds. Google up "Sound Therapy" to find many things about this.

When ATS did it's tribute to War of the Worlds I learned something important. Reasonable individuals will forego all rational thinking if they hear something from what they believe is a "reliable source," no matter how rediculous what they heard is.

Listening to classical music increases your childs IQ sounds pretty rediculous to me.

(I apologize for any spelling errors, I never was the sharpest tool in the shed eitherway.

Maybe music doesn't directly make you smarter, but it's well known music has a calming effect. It's also well known most people can think clearer and concentrate better when they are relaxed, so how about music relaxes you, which in turn helps your concentration, which in turns improves your ability to learn and remember, resulting in possibly a smarter you
A bit of a cascade effect
