Is My Mind 'Free'?

I believe my mind to be mine, not controlled by the media, etc. I seem to understand things in the way I want to, not how people WANT me to. But, maybe I'm made to believe that my mind is 'free' and not controlled, which then obviously makes it controlled.

Maybe 'they' want me to think I have mental freedom, but I don't. See what I'm getting at? It's horrible thinking that I'm being controlled.

What if everything I've thought to be true is just a lie created by 'them' to make me think I know something they don't want me to know.

Maybe I'm being made to question my mind right now...

So, how do you know your mind is 'free'?

(Sorry if this is in the wrong place!)

Come on...

Somebody must have something to say to ease my mind and save me from insanity!

One simple question: How do you know that your mind isn't being controlled?

You know your mind isn't controlled when you can act from your own instincts - ignoring everything except for the knowledge which you 'know' to be true.

As for having something to ease your mind, i suggest you take a chill pill - or if you've had too many, i suggest two days worth of bed-rest.

Oh, and it's impossible to know anything they don't want you to know, as after all if they cared about that knowledge badly enough, you'd be dead.

EDIT: Of course, even if the mind is free it can still be manipulated.

To know anything, one must first experience it.

Hi xeroxed88

I found your post very amusing - no offence - must be something to do with my age perhaps.

My friend, if you can post such a question there is nothing wrong with your mind. I know many people (family mostly, but some friends and work colleagues too) who trust everything the hear, read and watch in the media. They are disbelieving of conspiracy theories of any sort. I don't believe these people are 'mind controlled' but perhaps lack any experience or proof of anything alternative to what they hear, read and watch.

But no, my friend, if you have the mind to question, you are definitely an independent thinker - in my perception!

No need to be paranoid - not saying that you are - but you don't need to be at all, so relax and have a great life!

Kindest regards,

Dobbie.

The fact is... your mind is never free....

in the least bit it is controlled by the Laws of Physics.

Free will is an illusion of the mind. I choose to sacome to this illusion so that my mind can be free of determinist ideas.Or I guess.... ask Albert Camus....

whatever...

Only YOU can save yourself from "insanity" - if that's what you want.
(Personally, I think insanity is highly underrated...
)

Seriously, though... you might want to read some of J. Bennet's works.
Or good old Gurdjieff.

I am not much of a reading fan... but I do realise that each one of us have our own WAY to follow.

Sorry if this doesn't answer your question... NOW.

It still might, though... ; )

I have been in your spot many times. Soon enough you get "too deep" and your mind begins the unravel. Then everything just slips away......

First thing to do is let go of your ego. Next thing to do is look deep inside yourself mentally. Go back in time as far as you can remember and start playing it all in your mind. Get rid of any baggage you do have. If you feel bad because of something you did in the past then it will stay with you unless you learn to let go. This goes back to letting go of the ego. You need to get to a point in which nothing matters such as money, material things, and all those things that keep your mind occupied. This does not mean you stop paying your bills and mowing your lawn of course. Meditation or prayer works also in releasing that extra baggage.

The question is are you free from your own mind?

And the answer is with an open mind you will be.

When do I know if my mind is free??

Holy moly that is really a complex situation huh??!

Anyway - When things starts to blend together... Like - if water and paint mix - It depends how much water is in it - It becomes thin...paint.

Well - the world painted before our eyes - Is already a mystery - Even though you have not lived for generations...But only one lifetime.. And on some areas of life your still the same old stupid guy with the happy ignorance...

It's also a question about - like - In what way can we describe an ignorant person without dividing a land - Or are people ready for any eventual disaster - Is it a game..? you know - Are the players all part of teh same game or what??!!

Ofcourse they are - some of them might never meet.

so end your sorrows here lad - Have patience - like ...

hmm..

If you're happy, it's a safe bet your mind is free.

Everything else is irrelevant, in my worldview, anyway.
