Help. Viruses infected AVG Anti-virus

Help.
It has come to attention that my computer has become infected with viruses.
My AVG Anti-virus has become infected and now has it's own agenda.
I can not remove AVG or delete or change the file.
Can anyone help me with my situation.

I run AVG..never had a problem.How often do you update it?Mine updates automatically..everyday.

See if an online scanner will nuke it.

Here are some programs that should help, download, install, update and run the following:

Spybot search and distroy:

Avg Antispy:

Avg anti-rootkit:

Avg Antivirus:
free.grisoft.com...

Zone Alarm firewall:

Auslogics defragger:
www.download.com...

After installing and updating all programs, run them one at a time.
Keep rerunning the same program till it stops finding things.
Now move on to the next one.

Zone Alarm is a firewall, and you don't run it per say.

When everything is clean, remove the network cable and uninstall your current avg antivirus.
Reboot windows-this is critical-
Install the fresh version of avg, now install the network cable and download updates as soon as computer is rebooted.

A word of advice to add to what already been posted, you may want to run many of those scans in safe mode (done by pushing f8 during your bootup, and selecting safe mode from the menu screen) This makes your PC boot with the minimal ammount programs loading.

I swear by Adaware and AVG. Recently I've had a few probs they didn't catch (I'm not the only one that views rude sites on this comp - err I mean others use this computer, no I mean I don't use this computer araggh how do you dig up hill!)

Any who - using SmitFraudFix pref in safe mode is good.

As the other guys mentioned ad-aware and I also use Spybot Search and Destroy which is a free and easy to use programme. Good luck.

AVG's forum says if you can't uninstall, the simple fix is to reinstall, then uninstall.

As for the virus, try superantispyware, or drweb_cureit preferably in safe mode.

What Mr. Monsoon said. All of those apps will clean your system pretty good. And even if you don't notice a massive issue it's a good idea to run them regularly anyway so you don't get infected. Preventative medicine and all.

What's the virus name?

If you know which virus or virii you have then post it here and I'll help you find a removal tool.

Barring that, disconnect your network connection, boot to safe mode ( see previous post) try removing AVG.

Reboot, reconnect. Download AVG, Avir or any other free AV.

THanks for the help, tryed to reinstall than uninstall didn't work. I believe it to be malware, because it will keep randomly redirecting me to random websites.

Do you have a restore point where you can go back to a time you didn't have the virus. If all else fails then you might have to reformat your hard drive and reinstall your operating system. I've never had a problem with AVG either. Goodluck.

Ok, then it isn't catastrophic

The earlier posts provide links to free malware removal programs. I highly recommend www.superantispyware.com.

USe these programs one by one, rebooting after each and you should be clean,

I'd recommend this order.

superantispyware

spybot

rogue scan fix

NOD32 and Pandasoft antivirus are the best I've tried.


NOD32 has a trial, not sure about Pandasoft.
