I'm starting to see www2. & www6. when I sign onto the internet now!?!

Anyone know what this means? If it's what I think it is then things are moving quicker than I had thought.

I wasn't sure where to put this post so I chose conspiracy.

Why? What do you "think" it is? There's no conspiracy here.

The number after the WWW is merely a header extension to a redundant server serving the same domain.

There's a whole bunch of technical resource pages on the 'net that explains it fully (did you look?). Just google "What is WWW6?" or something similar to get a screen full.

Here's a simplified one for 'ya: WWW#.x.x explanation.

www6.blank.com...

You are seeing this page because the current domain is not configured in the current set of name servers or your domain is being parked.

No conspiracy here

Credibility doesn't come with the amount of posts you have but rather your opinion and the amount of respect you show when stating it.
If this post 'outrageo's' anyone then please just ignore it!!

Could be a server farm or just a host name. If a domain has more than 1 web server, a second one might be www2 versus some other name . That's been around for a long time.

It's just a host name (computer).
