i ended up at the 'center' at after another outburst....i ended up getting taken to the hospital via the ambulance.
i tried to break my hand. i punched the walls in my garage a few times..lotsa pain and swelling but no break.
so i go to the center and they evaluate me and take me to the ER so that i could get a medical clearance on me before i could get admitted to the psych ward.

i had blood drawn, urine test, and an ekg.
so the next day i have a LONG session with the social worker and a LONG session with the head doc.

he diagnosed me as bi polar 'mixed'.....so, it's bi polar and ptsd.
doc said genetics has a lot to do with bi polar stuff and i could have inherited it from him...the ptsd fron the things that happned to me when i was a kid.

this doc is very nice and i really like him..
you know how we hear that depression/anciety, etc can make pain worse? i believe it now...
i was on some meds that mellow me out and i feel pretty good pain wise...it hurts but not like before...

the doc redid my meds. i still get valium 3 times a day.
i was taking lexapro once per day@20,millis but now i am on cymbalta, 60 milis once per day.
he also gave me depkote to be taken twice per day but i forget the dose and i also have to take 40 milligrams(two, 2o milligram pils) at night....

i have dry mouth like a mofo, BUT, i feel good.

i also get to follow up with this same doctor so i am all set.
i have a doc. i have a strict regiment of meds and i'm on the right track...

btw, for all those that said talk therapy helps, you are totally CORRECT...i as leary of it at first but the groups were small and it did help.

so, ole bon is getting better...

Good to hear your feeling better Boondock. I had a verbal fight with my ex fiance a few years back and busted a quarter inch piece of paneling in the basement, and with my luck, also hit the stud. Swelled up good, no break though. There is no shame in getting help. Well wishes friend. And, Happy Thanksgiving. Have some turkey for me!

Boon,

GodSpeed, my friend.

Keep talking. To anyone you
trust.

Lacking that, anyone that will
listen.

I'm around. Been through the
PTSS thing. It does suck.

Regards,
Lex

Glad to find out you have found a doc that can help out. Stay on the right track and you will see how much it will help you. Please keep up with the meds you are given. Especially as to how they interact with other meds. Certain meds. will cause other meds. to have zero effect on a person because of how they interact. Then again some meds. will greatly increase the effect of other meds. as well.
My bi-polar wife has to change meds. every so often due to her body building a tolerance towards them causing them to be almost usless for her. Change is the only constance in life so it's just matter of finding the magic combination that will work.
Good to read that the talk therapy is going well to.

Take care my friend.

I'm glad you sought some professional help and therapy. Being in pain, physical and emotional sucks the creativity out of a person.

Creative people are a precious commodity in this world!

You are one of them!

Dude. Good to hear that things are back on the up& up for you.

It sucks being in misery, and for that matter seeing someone else in misery, but I'm glad that the persistance of the peeps here at ATS spurred you to get help.

Keep it real man. Things are gonna be all good.

Boon, I am glad you are feeling better. I too had a problem for years. I had anger issues mixed with anxiety. After breaking my hand twice in fights, being stabbed once, shot at 2 times, you would think that would calm you down.
It took a wonderful wife to convince me I needed help. Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I was not violent towards her, but I would get really mad for very little things.
My Doc., introduced me to Zoloft. I know people preach about the bad little pills, but let me tell you, it changed my life. For the first time I felt normal. I had no idea the things and feelings I had missed out on in life. I have been on it for about 10 years now. I can still get angry, but I think before I react now.
This is not the fix for everyone, but it worked for me.
Life for the most part is good. Hope the same for you Bro.

my wife has been encouraging me to go talk to someone too. i am not angry or violent to my wife/son/inlaws and such....just with strangers..i feel like i want to strangle them.

i am hoping these new meds will do for me what the meds did for you.
i know not everyone puts much stock in those types of meds, but i do.
