This has just started happening and it's driving me NUTS...

On my Laptop

About every other time I click on anything or try and load a page I get..

"Problem Loading Page"

This is happening with Firefox and I just checked IE, happening there as well...

If I keep trying, after 3 or 4 times, the page loads normal...

I have cleaned my PC, ran a virus scan and although I never changed any settings, I checked them anyway... All set the same way I always keep them...

It is not happening on my Desktop..

I am running Vista Home Ultimate
Acer 5610, With 2 gigs Ram

Any suggestions?

Are you using a hard line or wi-fi for your internet connection?

Wi-Fi

My whole house is Wi-Fi...

My wife's PC is working fine, it's an older Lap Top..

Is it something to do with my Wireless?

Possibly. There's another thread around here where the OP had similar symptoms. The problem was solved in that thread.

I'll dig around and post the link to that thread here.

Okay I can't seem to find that thread... so let me ask a couple of diagnostic questions instead. At least if I can't solve it (because you're using Vista, and I've limited experience with that OS), others will have some info to go on.

1. Did you recently update your Windows?
2. Any driver updates?
3. Are there any other wireless devices such as cordless phones nearby?
4. Have you tried connecting directly to the router with a cable?

More questions later. I gotta go to the store for a bit.

Something similar happens to me.

But it is because the wireless connection is dropped.

If people are using a wireless phone, your connection will drop, if someone uses that microwave, your connection will drop.

Other then that... good luck,

Hi

Semper,

Are you still having issues?

Try this:

type run in the "search" box in your start menu
then type "command" in the run box and a black box will pop up
the curser is blinking and you can type this command to clear your settings

Type "netsh winsock reset catalog" without the quotation marks.
and hit enter.

close all the screen and try your internet.

If this doesn't work then try running anti-spyware
you might have a browser hijack

www.superantispyware.com is free and very good.

let me know what happens

good luck

Beach,

1. update almost daily on this computer. With Vista running I have found it necessary..

2. No driver updates though as of this starting..

3. Nothing wireless that has not always been there.. Another Laptop, my Wifes is all and my Cell Phones..

4. The PC directly connected to the Router, my Desktop, works fine..

Thanks Tkain...

x-phile,

I have run all my spyware, gonna run the one you suggested now..

I tried reseting the winsock but it said..

"Need Elevation"

What ever that means???

I just reset my Router again and Modem and it seems to be working, up to this point....

Okay

Do you have admin rights?

Are you saying once you "hardwire" ( no wireless) the problem doesn't occur?

I'm the Admin on all my PC's

I have not hardwired the Laptop yet.. My Desktop has no issues and it's hardwired...

It seems to be acting better ie. has not given me the "Problem Loading Page" ever since I reset the Router....
