Personally I care because I work 7 days a week at 2 different jobs to give my family all I can and a paid day off, or working triple time, that's over $60/hr, is thankable imo.

and you still have time to moderate a board? wow.

don't you think your family would rather have you spending time with them instead of making money so they can buy things? if not then maybe you should re-evaluate the situation.

What can I say? ADHD(not that we knew about it when I was a kid) is a wonderful thing, it lets you multitask better than the average person.

I'm home evenings through the week and days on the weekend. Then there's those precious holidays.

First of all I'm thankful for Semper and DG's posts. It's been along time since I laughed that hard. I laughed til I cried. Good to know you two give a crap.

I'm thankful for lots of different things in fact too many to list here. I wish each and every one of you all the Blessings that are possible.

Mostly I'm thankful for my family not just on Thanksgiving but on each and every day.

My friend, Gallop, glad you had a chuckle! We all did, i guess.

I want you to know you're not left out!! I have enough love in my heart (and crap) for you to wish you and Seagull a very happy Thanksgiving. If you cant give a crap about your friends, who can you give a crap about.

Enough crap. I love you both

I just can't believe that you accused someone of being proud of having more than the homeless. That was a remarkably unfair statement. Of course none of us want anyone to be homeless which is why many of us so-called glutonous Americans have multiple food-shelves across the nation with drop boxes available at almost every grocery store that many of us contribute to. We also have programs such as Toys for Tots, and the salvation armys red kettle campaign to try our best to help families less fortunate experience at least a little bit of the joy that most people partake in during the holidays and any other time of the year.

Yes, I am a fat American who loves my turkey and stuffing during the holidays, I like to buy my kids lots of gifts if I can afford to and you know what, I have worked hard and have been to hell and back for all of it and I am thankful for that. I have been homeless, I have had to eat in soup kitchens, I have had my home burn down, and after all of that, I feel like I have the right to enjoy the things that I have.

And the holidays are not just another day for many of us. Many of us work very hard to keep ourselves and our children off of the streets and the holidays are the only time we get to sit down and really have an extended amount of special time with our families. Sure they would rather have us home than at work all the time, but I have a feeling they like the roof over their heads and the food on their table as well.

Amen, sounds to me like you have more then earned the right to sit down with your family and enjoy the fruits of your labor. I noticed on another thread that you work at Wal-Mart; hard work indeed. You have; for what it's worth to you; my respect. Happy Thanksgiving.

I am thankful that we have people like you who remind us all just how much we all have to be thankful for. A star for your post and a desire to shake your hand.

I give a Crap about my family and the togetherness we feel on Thanksgiving.

Semper

why do you feel togetherness on thanksgiving? its just another day.

Good lawd. Sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of bed before scribing this thread. I mean come on. If you live in a free country, you have to be able to be thankful for something. Just because you dont give a crap about anything doesnt mean that you have to come and rain on all our parades. Yes the basis of the day was eemingly negative, but we cant focus on all the bad things of the past now can we?

Why dont you go to Iraq or some third world nation and then tell me that you dont give a crap about anything. My initial assumption is that you would come running back here and lick the ground you walk on, since you would probably be thankful for the things you didnt give a crap about before.

Sure this country is full of ravenous, self-indulgent gluttons, but it is also full of loving, like-minded people that care about family, being together and being thankful for what they have. It just so happens that Thanksgiving is a day when we can focus on the good things that we have. Youre allowed to do it the other 364 days of the year, but we have singled this day out as a focal point.

Enough of the chastizing, I am going to go and prep my Turducken and Green Bean casserole. Instead of bringing us all down with your negativity, feel free to go and be salty with the other peeps that dont give a crap about anything.

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

"who gives a crap"!!

I give a crap
What happened back in the pilgrim's day with the indians has nothing to do with any of us here. I'm sick and tired of all past whoe's of the indians, black people and slavery or the atomic bomb. The past is the past and we can't go back and change it! But alot of things have changed since those days. And this time is our time. You got to quit hanging on to the past and get on with life. America is great and so are alot of countries and nations. Thanksgiving is all about being thankful for everything good in our lifes. Thankful for family, for the food on our tables and thankful that people do care and love life.

Happy Thankgiving Everyone!!!

I don't really give a crap about thanksgiving in all fairness!

But then I'm not from a country that ever "did" this holiday.

I will however be giving a huge crap around the 5th-10th of Feb when it's Lunar new year and I have loads of time off to be with my little boy and THE LAW

So Happy Thanksgiving to all of you that give a crap and a happy 2 finger salute and a poke in the eye for those of you that don't!

Just read that again and then poked myself in the eye and walked to the nearest mirror and saluted myself in the greatest of two fingered fashion.

Have a great day y'all

Yeah, Monkey and a happy Turkey day to you too.

Concerning the 2 finger salute...what's the extra finger for?

What can I say to someone that is so impoverished that they would start such a negative thread?

Perhaps it would help you to understand that I am Native American. We were some of the first "Thanks Givers", it is a way of life for us to be thankful. The fact that those starving Pilgrims were thankful for the help we gave is part of the reason to give in the first place.

Many of my friends here have expressed better than I could the reasons for this day, though in truth, a person ought feel this way throughout the year.

I feel sorrow that your life is so meaningless that you have nothing to be thankful for. It must be a terrible existence to wake up and see no brightness to the dawn of any day. To have no child smile at you for no reason except that they want to.

And you are mistaken in the assumption that all Americans are anything. We are too diverse a people to ever intelligently be lumped into such broad categories. Those things which are wrong with our nation need to be fixed, and they will be.

And while these things that tarnish us somewhat may seem large, they are truly such a small part of what we are; like a birthmark on a beautiful woman, they in many ways are the counterpoint that shows off those things about our nation that are wonderful.

I wish you had the sight to see all the things that are truly worth being thankful for, not just in America, but across the world. Our blue island in the dark sky is a wonderful oasis where abide many wonders. We as a species are worth being thankful for, even with our faults. Yours included.
