Thanks for the post TheoOne. Wake Island would be an ideal launch facility for some of our secret projects. Its in the middle of nowhere, its at 19
degrees north and few commercial flights fly over. It would also be an ideal fuel stop for secret airplanes between the west coast and Guam (Anderson
AFB).
I am very familiar with the Pacific Islands of Midway, French Frigate Shoals, Johnston, Wake and Guam having spent 4 years ferrying USAF airplanes to
Viet Nam between 1966 and 1970 for the 4440th Air Delivery Group at Langley,
There is another suspicious area about a hundred miles to the southeast of Midway Island at the Pearl and Hermes Reef. It is obscured for some reason
and I suspect it might have been turned into a secret Navy sub base:
One other secret area in the Pacific is somewhere between San Francisco and Hawaii I think that there is a floating runway. I base this speculation on
radar images that somebody posted once of tracks between the west coast and Honolulu just stopping half way. I also base this on my opinion that there
has to be a refueling stop between the west coast and Wake and Honolulu or anywhere around Hawaii is too visible.
Thanks for the post.
