Boston police are launching a program that will call upon parents in high-crime neighborhoods to allow detectives into their homes, without a warrant, to search for guns in their children's bedrooms.

Although I can't say this is a horrible idea (considering how awful gun violence is) im more worried about where this will lead. Slowly but surly they make these types of actions seem ok and before you know it a refusal for the search is now on a record and your on a watch list. If you've got a child, parent them yourself without government intervention. You have the responsibility not the give up your child's rights as well as your own.
