I was reading news on smh.com.au (one of Sydney's top news Web sites) and I found this article:

www.smh.com.au...

I thought it was pretty interesting, and maybe others might too.
II just want to hear people's opinions and if they think its all rubbish, or just propaganda.. Surely this cannot be a "warning" or "saber rattling" as they say.. CHINA Already??? Is the U.S preparing for suicide? Is it just to mess with our minds? What's this all about? Looking forward to your replies.

America has a company like nsa, that spy on everything and steal anything they can, and then people try to say that china steals from america, come on this is the real world.

America steal any info they can too. Do you think if russia or china are doing something secret the americans would not be trying to steal it. Of course they do.

Mmmm, thats how the world works unfortunatly. Ever since the Cold War, or before, everyone has been trying to work out what everyone else is working on and doing behind each others backs. Not good for global relations.

"Accused?"

Look, while we were making a big deal out of Slick Willy's affair with Monica, he was selling us out to guess who. Why none other than dear Ol' China. I don't think it's a matter of accusation. I think it's a matter of fact. The only questions I have are:

How long? What? When? Where?

I doubt the Chinese have a lot of "technology" that the US may want. Spy yes, but steal technology, very doubtful.

They have the technology to get away with using lead paint and sub standard parts in all your cheap-assed toys and consumer electronics for who knows how long.

There are over a billion people in China and I'm pretty sure a few of them know more than you think it's even possible to know.

Get off your horse and drink your milk (made in China).

MonKey!

The Chinese are exactly that, technology thieves!

They are like freakin' vultures waiting to pounce on any any new ideas that the rest of the world comes up with. They may be able to steal an idea and mass produce it much cheaper but as the rest of the world is finding out you get what you pay for cause their products suck.

When was the last time they developed anything on their own from start to finish?

You think the Earth is in bad shape now? Wait a few more years when China becomes a super power. They have a complete disregard for the planet and mother nature.
They don't give a rats ass about being Green and no one gives a flip.
Can you say Chinese lead?

As China becomes wealthier you can expect to see more animals make it to the endangered species list. A delicacy like shark-fin soup, is a good example. They cut the fins off and continue to dump the finless shark overboard where it sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
Gee I wonder what the ocean floor will look like in ten years.

They hurt us very badly from the Los Alamos incident. Stealing vital satellite and ballistic tech. And they used it to blow up there own obselete weather sat. Potentially putting a 100 billion dollar multinational space station at risk. Sure we do it to. I just think China has gotten a lot better at it. Look at the labels of just about everything you own nowadays. Bet it says China. Their unfair underated Yen has been contentious for years. Now America is going bankrupt. I'm sure the Chinese will find other buyers. I just don't like the tactics. Not that invading an innocent country is any better....I digress.

To those of you getting bunched because the Chinese are stealing tech:

That's what every civilization does, just before they start developing their own. Japan did it, now look at them. Heck, even the US did it (Google Operation Paperclip, look at the details and read between the lines).

Further back in history, the Romans did it. The point is, you copycat a successful design, and then later improve upon it. It's how it's always done.

Deal with it.

Yes I agree that the point would be to improve on a good design so that everyone benefits.
This is not the case here because the Chinese only care about screwing you over.
How would you like to buy a brand new hard drive only to find that it is already infected with a virus?
What's worse is that it almost looks as if they are targeting our children.
Why would they taint toy beads with poison?

Hey Beachcoma, if you feel so strongly about Chinese products why don't you put your money where your mouth is and buy your kids some lead tainted Chinese made toys?

I CERTAINLY HOPE WE ARE STEALING ANYTHING WE CAN GET FROM THEM! But its not likely that there is much to steal. and of course it tougher to steal from an iron brutal fisted closed society that exicutes its people at the drop of a hat. But, most chinese would be more than happy to get even with their communist masters by helping the U.S. as did the Soviets!

It is like Beachcoma said, its the same as the Japanese. First everyone laughed at their cars, today they are No1. They build cheap quarz watches, today they sell the playstation.
China is going to rule the world in 20 years and are also going to invent more than anyone else. How can it be otherwise with more than one billion people? The chinese are also spreading everywhere on the globe.
Most of the european countries are doomed. With less than 1.2 birth / familly you can't win this battle.

Quite true I must say..America has more than 12 different agencies.. The CIA being one the most deceiving IMO. It would be easy, but I think its not that easy these days, since technology has increased, therefore increasing security. But you always spies too, working on both sides.. it can be a real mess.

China pretty much is the factory for the world.
I am not sure if they will invent more than other countries although its absolutely possible, but one thing is for sure, their economy has increased very well in the last 10 - 15 years, China's economy grew 9.1% in 2003, its best performance for six years and the fastest of any major economy! If they keep it up they may well be the next superpower. Depends how well they keep their relations and play the ball on the world stage.

This is an open secret that has been going on for years. The US steals whatever we can from the Europeans and other Asian countries. Even our Allies steal for us.

NSA has the edge on anyone for listening to any communication. Russia and China are just a step behind.

It's just "who has something that someone else wants", then they go find it.

I got to experience this first hand. A chinese company offered to buy our company. We went over there and they wined and dined us and then put us through a couple of days of grueling technical presentations. After that they gave us a ridiculous low ball offer for our company that they knew we couldn't except.

They wanted to strip out our technology and apply it to their systems. The company has close ties to the PLC by the way. About two months after my company went out of business they called me at my home. The Chinese company offered me a job interview over the phone. The interview was nothing more than a fishing expedition for more technical know how. There was no real job behind the offer. The technology our company developed could easily be used for a lot of military applications.
