United Russia, The new Soviet Union

The United Russia party (UR) is, by the least, a communist organization. Headed by Vladmir Putin, the party seems to not go by proper democracy according to this article. In fact, the current Russian government controls the media and is now not allowing OSCE inspectors into the country for the elections. Aren't all these things similar to what the communist party did during the Cold War? Is the United Russia party becoming the new communist party of the new Soviet Union?

Putin has said that the goal of his politics is to "salvage the remnants of the Soviet Union". Doesn't get much more obvious than that.
All expenses are drawn from the public and all income goes to the goverment.
What we see is the rising of a new soviet union. It is right there, under our noses.
And what can we do to fight it? Nothing.
It is a long lost nightmare back with a vengence.
