The Cosa Nostra seems to be all but extinct in italy news.yahoo.com...;_ylt=AqjhzTG0G91ub_9IQUU94Q6s0NUE
i find this funny because the assasination took place in a italian resturant just like in the movies. but on a brighter side all around the world there is finally mafia crackdowns and they are being hurt. to long have i watched people glorifying mobsters when in real they they are quite brutal monsters. good work italy for cracking down on these monsters.

To bad they cant get the biggest mobsters bankers and politicians but I guess its a start. Bad part is from what I gather "Cosa Nostra" did not like to be involved with drugs heavily and these new gangs do which gives them much more power, ties and money so they logically would take over but that might be worse and more violent in the long run.

Too bad for Italy.
I encourage them to look down at their neighbor Sicily for instructions on how to keep the tradition alive.
Salvatore Lo Piccolo possibly Bernardo Provenzano's heir to the throne per se. However with Piccolo just captured I'm confident that a new heir has been sworn in.

Whoever looks a little bit further than Mafia in southern Italy, will end up having to deal with all kinds of EU intelligence services. Among prominent victims and heroes of mafia crimes in Italy, there are : Piersanti Mattarella, Gen. Carlo dalla Chiesa, Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino and Giuseppe Impastato.

There are sometimes voices around Europe that attempt to blame the KGB and-or Soviet services for organizing and performing these assassinations, but there's an evident contradiction that renders any of those claims baseless.

The KGB could not possibly have done what they did in Capaci in May 1992, as the USSR had already collapsed and it is impossible that leftover KGB operatives could have done anything of that magnitude. ...
