Brilliant idea

The detail is astounding.

I focussed on the face of the disciple to the left of Jesus, the one considered to be Mary Magdalene, called my wife over and asked her if the face was male or female (she had no idea what painting)...

She said 'female' without hesitation.

Really cool pic, eyeball.

Thanks masqua,

Finally we all can study this mysterious picture and look for hidden Templar knights, etc.

Mary Magdalene i agree. Ether the disciple to the left of Jesus is a very pretty/feminine male or a woman - Mary!

I sure that there are plenty of people here who can poor over this picture using the zoom detail an possibly even discover further hidden information.

i just did the same thing....i zoomed in on her so she is all you could see, and asked her male or female and straight away she said female.

that is some serious resolution

Me too I dont even have to zoom in. Straight away I see a female to Jesus right, and all the others look manly.. except maybe the 2nd guy from left too... and Jesus himself.. but none of them as much as 'Mary'.

What I see and feel from this picture is all his disciples arguing in disagreement of the fact Jesus 'bigs up' Mary.. she is on his 'right hand' side..

When you read the gospel of Mary and the other gospels like Judas and Thomas all this stuff comes together.

But then again, its just a painting by someone who believes that version of events.. isnt like he was doing a live portrait

something odd....

what is the object that "Jesus" is reaching for with his right hand? looks like a glass to me.... a cleglass as you can see the hand through it.

Also, the "woman" appears to be holding a knife and is being restrained?

On the glass that Jesus is reaching for, I don't see it al all, but the hand is definitely about to grasp something.

If you look closely at [imo]Mary's[/imo] hands, they seem to be clasped together, as in prayer, but the hand with the knife looks like it doesn't belong there... like an anomaly in the gathering.

She is holding a knife... but I dont feel she is being restrained it seems pretty relaxed, just a tense 'quizical' atmosphere.. its all in the hand gestures and body postures.. there is a plate of food there she may be going to the plate.. and the disciple on her right is leaning forward to allow the one on his right to reach over and say whatever disagreeableness he is maybe saying to her, while the one on his right seems to be disagreeing with him maybe... by his hands out in front of him in a kinda 'woah ease up' attitude.... the one next to him still is reaching over to touch the one whos talking to Mary.. as if to say 'stop it, shut up...!? (or something) and the disciples to Jesus left are wondering why this why that.. with her Mary.. how and why. bla bla..

And that guy too Jesus right pointing one finger up into the air as if to say ONE.. (one what?) and the one in orange standing on Jesus right is thinking of himself.. maybe, by his inward hard gestures.. as if to say 'but I this I that' ..blaaa

Among all this commotion Jesus is thinking 'man.. I just wana eat some of this food!.. and I dont know if to eat the thing on my left here or the thing on my right... (haha) nah but hands out as if to say 'well thats how it is tough luck what can I do!? '

God I must stop thinking but its definatly .......

Something about Mary'

Edit to add... actually the guy does seem to be holding her arm with the knife... didnt notice.. but I dont think it was likely she was going to stab anyone up.

Edit 2.. Its all symbolic...... Mary has a knife... what does the knife represent?

Peace - out.

On the knife in Mary's hand...

take a close look what's beside the right hand of Jesus. To me that looks like Mary has both hands clasped together in front of her. The sleeves of her gown both point down to those two hands together.

Ooooooooohhhhh!!!!!!! what a donut!!!..... Ive just clocked it the guy leaning over talking to Mary is holding the knife. I can only see Jesus reaching for that redish thing whatever it is I cant quite tell... I will call it a pork pie for future reference
and yes marys hands are together in front, I should have used that zoom! that makes her more in proportion, otherwise she was a big long in the arm yeah and it looked wrong.

I seeeeeeeeee...............

:w:

edit > Looks kinda like a turks gurka knife I might add... and I dont suppose it means he was going to stab anyone either! he's just being careful as you do thats why his hand is twisted back? ... damn... looks like nobodys getting stabbed in this painting Im going to bed.

I note Jesus has one palm down and one up anyway... it could all just be symbolical freemason language. I bet theres some geometry in there when you draw it up.... I saw a weird mirrored version of it before it made Jesus look like predator!

Sek...

What a beuatiful picture.

Mary Clearly isnt holding the knife, it clearly is the person who is wispering into her ear.

Can anyone name all the people in the painting?

Is the one with the knife Judith???

And the strangest thing i see, is the guy on the far right of the picture, it looks as if he has no eyes...

... tho its odd him reaching for it like that? and his hand mirrors the guy on his rights hand too..

The more you look at this picture when zoomed in close, the more details you notice.

Overall the main thing that jumps out at me are the people hands, they appear to be important to the picture some how?

One other thing I have noticed is an object behind the person on the far left, could this be somebody’s head who is lurking in the background?

Also why are Jesus and the person to the left of Mary tiring to grab an empty bowl/plate? And what does the darker skinned person to the left of Jesus have in his right hand?

What do you think?

Course the hands are important, its the hands and body postures that add the whole story to the picture, bare in mind the painter was no doubt a freemason and the hand gestures could be symbolic.

Theres nobody lurking in the background its his clothing its green like his clothes, unless its a reptilian on his back. haha..

And the guy is holding some kinda little baggy, money bag maybe? you can see the round bottom of the bag.. he is reaching for a bread roll by the looks of it? and Jesus is reaching for a glass although it dont look right the angle of his hand unless he was going to grab it from the top....

The hand pointing down is symbolic, if he painted his hand reaching for it as you would normally to pick it up.. it would lose its meaning.

Im just waiting for someone to start drawing the geometry on it and then see what pops up... I'l do it myself later.

From left to right we have Bartholomew, James, Andrew, Peter with the knife, Judas with the money bag, the beloved Disciple John or possibly Mary Magdalene, and Jesus. Sitting next is James the Greater with his arms outstretched preventing Thomas from getting to close to Christ. Thomas, also known as the doubting Thomas has his finger pointing up. It's a trademark of Leonardo's dubbed "the John Gesture" which relates to John the Baptist (not pictured). Then there is Philp, Matthew, Jude and Simon.

I think the secret everyone is looking for is in the ceiling of the room. One side is nasty dirty and the other crispy clean.

Notice Thomas's side is clean and his testament wasn't allowed into the Bible. Somehow it's my favorite writing. Leo was in a position to see the taboo books of the time because of the people he was rubbing elbows with.

As he lay dying, Leonardo gazed upon two of his paintings. One was of John the Baptist showing the John gesture with the finger pointing up and the other was the Mona Lisa.

The way to the truth starts with John the Baptist. John points to the way, because although he baptized with water he informed everyone that someone greater would baptize them with fire. When you are baptized by the Holy Spirit - your helper or comforter has arrived to teach you all things. The Mona Lisa mirrored dipicts the Holy Grail - which is the Spirit of Truth.

And the truth shall set you free!

Hi Myrtales Instinct,

That for the informative post, I will have another look at the picture. Another area I find strange is the big grey area in the centre of the picture, it looks like this area has been 'blocked out' removing something, or I maybe reading to much into it!

Please can you explain the following to me in plain English -

The problem with that line of reasoning is that you're failing to take into account several crucial elements.

First, Italian art trends at the time the painting was done. The Renaissance broke out in Italy, and a very common trend in art was to paint saints and holy individuals with very smooth lines, making them look almost female. If you observe many paintings that came out of that era of angels or Jesus, you'll notice the same thing. It was a method of denoting that that individual had not been taken by the ravages and evils of the world.

In addition to this, you're making assumptions directly in contradiction to Da Vinci's own writings. He does document who each person is in the painting in his journal that was somewhat recently discovered and translated. In addition to that, there are at least 2 other paintings of his of John the Apostle, with "St. John" in the title, where he looks the same.

While we, today, take a more literalist approach to art, at the time those characteristics of Saint John that many see as feminine were, at the time, used to denote innocence. What better way to make the "disciple whom Jesus loved" distinct amongst the others than to make him far more innocent than any of the other 12?

I apologize. I will try to explain it a little better.

1. Christ taught that he was the way the truth & the life.

2. Christ taught that no one enters the Kingdom of God without being born of water and spirt.

3. Christ taught that after he ascended he would not leave us orphans. That he would send another helper and comforter to dwell in us. He calls this the Spirit of Truth.

4. John came and baptized with water urging the people to repent for their past mistakes.

5. John taught I indeed baptize you with water, but one comes after me who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit & fire.

This last line I wrote is critical into understanding De Vinci, but first I need to finish my train of thought.

After water baptism, Christ will baptize with what they called the fire. This is not a hot fire that would burn you - it's like the fire that Moses saw in the burning bush, that did not consume.

Also, for the word to be fulfilled - Elijah had to come first. He would preceed Christ. When John came baptizing, the people asked him if he was "Elijah" and he told them "no." He told them that he was a voice crying in the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord make his path straight. Those words are found in the Old Testament. John ends up getting beheaded and Christ explains that John was Elijah.

One only needs to go back and read what Elijah did in the Old Testament, to understand how Jesus and John go together like peas & carrots.Lol

The Pagans of the time had a contest to see whose God would show up. The Pagans made an alter to their God Baal, and Elijah made one to God. A meat sacrifice was placed on both alters, wood was placed underneath them, and whoever's God lit the alter was the true God. Well, the Pagans prayed, prayed and prayed some more but nothing happend. When it was Elijah's turn he first doused the wood with 10 barrells of water - and guess what? God showed up with the fire.

Water & Fire = John & Jesus.

Da Vinci painted John the Baptist for himself. The way starts with John the Baptist.

Then there is the Mona Lisa, the other painting he died looking at.

In the Gnostic texts that were not allowed into the Bible there is one called the Pistis Sophia - which means like Wisdom in Faith. This text teaches this is the female aspect of the Godhead and is the Holy Spirit. In the Bible the Holy Spirit is referred to as a male in the New Testament.

Da Vinci wrote in mirrored writing in his notes. If you mirror the Mona Lisa from the right side, a beautiful chalice is formed. Some people believe that the Holy Grail is a bowl or chalice that Christ used at the Last Supper, when in fact we are the vessel that is filled with the Holy Spirit.

Da Vinci knew the mystery of the water and fire. He was more than likely a closet Gnostic and a practicing Alchemist. Sir Isaac Newton tried to find the mystery to Alchemy and had a mental breakdown.

There is a thread around here somewhere that shows the Last Supper mirrored - and the entire ceiling is white, and Christs's clothes of red & blue are turned to a royal purple - fit for a King!

I hope this will help you.

Thank you for explaining this to me in a clear and concise manner. If only I had more time to educate myself with such things.
