Syria clears suspected nuclear site

www.news.com.au

NEW satellite pictures show Syria has razed the site of what might have been a secret nuclear reactor under construction apparently bombed by Israel last month, an atomic research institute says.

Syria has denied illicitly hiding a nuclear site from the the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and said the only facility in the area in question was a desertification research centre.

This is clear evidence that the Syrians were doing atomic research here, and were for some reason hiding it.
Im amazed how quick they have removed any evidence of a missle attack.. Why??

How is it clear evidence? It's hearsay at best.

Where are the satellite pictures of things being cleaned up? Stuff being hauled off?

This evidence is no better than Saddam's supposed mobile chemical weapons factories.

There wasn't a building there.....the original photo is forged. The Syrians just didn't want you to see evidence of Israelis bombing an agricultural center, no wait an unused small military complex. Nothing to see here, move along.

I blame the Zionist controlled media for spreading such false accusations.....isn't that how the party line goes? Bad Israel, Poor innocent Syria? Bashir Assad will not be around much longer, I fear. The next time Israel's jets buzz his vacation residence, they will be dropping stuff.

Hopefully the IAEA puts the hound dogs out to investigate, I won't hold my breath though.

See what I mean? The mere fact that Syria erased that building means nothing to Dr. Love. Please give your rationale for Syria doing that and not letting the media see the damage the big bad Israelis did? The perfect PR shot ruined by a nuclear plant.
Sorry. At the very least tell me what you think is going on Dr. Love? Why is Syria so quiet on the subject in the face of naked Israeli aggression?

First off, I never said it wasn't what you think it was. Obviously I require more proof than you do. I just don't go off half-cocked every time the propaganda bone is thrown my way.

Why no satellite images after the bombing????? We get a "before", and then a "way after". Not good enough for me.

Maybe the Syrians cleared it up because they are going to rebuild whatever the hell it was. It kind of helps to do that first. Syria's not stupid enough to retaliate and make things easier for the US and Israel.

Are you claiming that this isn't the site in question? I am sure more photos and info will dribble out as needed.

What would a "just after" photo prove to you? Sometimes silence is deafening. The whole incident bespeaks of much below the surface. Mark my words, Assad is on a very short leash now, he is not experienced like his father. His next miscalculation will be his last.

The real question is WHO bankrolled the whole Facility??????? I wonder where that money trail leads to? Any guesses?

No.

I hope so and I'll reserve further judgement until then.

Give me a break Rambo!

Bankrolled what kind of facility? I prefer not to guess without more proof. Sorry.

I am sure Israel doesn't like having an amatur and buffoon running a country on it's border and the Syrian Military must not be too enamoured with Bashir Assad anymore either. He needs to walk a fine line and I don't think he will be able to do that. No Rambo there, just taking stock of the situation. The US won't take him out, Israel or his own military will. Bashir Assad is not savvy like his father was. His inexperience will be his downfall.

I think the evidence is mounting that this is something the Syrian govt. wishes to cover up and get rid of evidence. What would constitute enough proof for you? Even most experts on the subject, even those who didn't think Syria was actively pursuing nuclear technology seem to be of the mind that the site in question is in line with North Korean designs for their nuclear facilities.
Put the puzzle together.
North Korean Vessel arrives in Syrian port.
Reports of North Korean personnel in the region.
Building very similar in structure to a N.K. reactor is being built.
Israel bombs it.
Syria barely mentions it, claiming it was first a agricultural site then an unused military site.
Syria doesn't invite the world to see the horrible damage done to the peaceful agricultural site.
Syria takes down the building rapidly before ANY international observers can see it.

And you still doubt? They got caught with their pants down and are fumbling to get them zipped and buttoned now.

We will see who owes who the apology. Time will tell.

there's chatter that the aerial attack was on a on a Syrian Missile site,
(which had advanced N.K. missiles & technology)
and not a future N.K. designed breeder reactor which 6 years from now would be producing weapon grade plutonium...

And - - both sides are keeping their mouth shut (al least to the public)

the nuclear threat is just a cover-story

The aerial photos dont appear to indicate a missile facility. Experts have stated they buildings do seem in line with N.K. reactor faciitiles though.

N.K. tends to just export the missiles, not the whole manufacturing process as far as I know. It is a possibility though. I would think there would have been less "hush hush" after the fact if is just was a rocket site.

See, this is where I'm supposed to say "What experts?", and then pavil will proceed with his pre-approved list of totally unbiased sources with no apparent political agenda.

Go ahead........make my day!

I can't believe people on here are defending Syria on this issue. There is no justification.

If this target was a non issue, Syria would be complaining every day through the news filming from the bombed area (in rubble) showing proof they bombed a target that didn’t deserve to be bombed. Instated the have been DEAD SILENT. NOTHING out of Syria for almost a month... They knew they got screwed big time… Israel and the US have WAY more info on the site than they are letting the media know. They probably had seals on the ground spying the site for months gather intel.

They clearly had something big to hide here. For once Israel and the US have a justified reason for aggression that supports the situation in Iraq and the problems they have with Iran but people don’t want to believe it. Very sad indeed.

I’m happy Israel did what needed to be done. It puts the scope on Syria which has been under the radar way to long now.

Nobody has flat out defended Syria in any way.

"Well the burden of proof is on you Dr Love, not on us!".....yeah yeah, I know the drill. Save it.

You did make my day. Here is the article with the experts you can check them out person by person. They are not all Administration favorites.

The striking difference in the satellite photos surprised even some outside experts who were skeptical that Syria might be developing a nuclear program.

www.iht.com...

Don't believe me, believe the opinons of experts in that field.

I'm not trying to bust your chops but this is the Syrian Govt. here. The same ones that are assasinating Lebenese leaders that oppose Syrian involvement in Lebanon's affairs. Wait..... I don't have proof of that either do I? You don't find it odd I bet, that only Anti-Syrian Officials in Lebanon's cabinet are being whacked, do you?

Sometimes there is never enough proof, especially when evidence is bulldozed away. Supposedly there was an Israeli "mole" who took pictures insided the facility.

I can admire your quest for absolute proof to an extent, but if you had to err, which side would it be on? I persoally think it is far more likely that Syria is/was hiding something that it didn't/doesn't want the rest of the world to know.

I really have to wonder what they were doing out there that they had to cover it up once it was bombed.

I don't think that it was an empty warehouse like Syria claimed.

I remain very pessimistic about the whole mid east. I think that it will be the first area of the earth destroyed in a nuclear confrontation.

Interesting images aren't they?

For kicks I put a composite together from the images in the two reports.
Seems I'm not very good at it.

They put out an update today.
It has a couple more pictures pointing out excavation next to the site.

The silence is deafening on this issue.

We don't know what was going on, but it's obvious that something suspicious was... otherwise Israel wouldn't have launched the air strike in the first place or the Syrians would be shouting from the rooftops about unprovoked attacks from Israel.

It could be anything, really, but without evidence it's difficult to pinpoint what. I'd be surprised if it wasn't related to military research that the Syrians wanted to keep quiet, though.
