Crude closed at $90.46 a barrel, up 3.9% from Tuesday, thanks in parts to surprisingly low inventories of crude in the United States and continued worries about Iran and its nuclear research program.
The rise pushed the Amex Oil Index ($XOI.X) 1% higher to 1,475, and the Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index ($OSX.X) moved up 0.7% to 298. ConocoPhillips (COP, news, msgs) was up 2.5% to $83.69. Anadarko Petroleum (APC, news, msgs) jumped 2.7% to $56.95.
