Very well said and I agree completely.

We have a friend who is SF/K9 handler who is in Iraq right now w/ the Army (even though he is AF). He has been there only a couple of months (2nd tour). His job is to walk around with his K9 amongst all the civlians there. In and out of town, on foot. He interacts with the people of Iraq 24/7.

He actually gets pissed off at the FALSE reports that he reads while home - and while there (his words, not mine).

The report back he has from walking the streets of Bagdad and others areas iof Iraq is NOT what most people are hearing here. How sad.

I'm sure negative sentiment on the home-front is having some impact on morale jerico65, but right or wrong, the public seems to have soured on this thing. A sad situation for our troops...in the hands of our leadership. I imagine morale levels vary, depending on where you're operating, how much success your unit is having etc.

Thanks for the feedback.

the US is soon to be bankrupt from Druggie Jr's 9 TRILLION $$$ DEBT inflicted on that nation.

Lol, I remember a few years ago, at the very beginning of the Iraq invasion, one of my Professors, it was a business class but he also taught history and other social sciences, was a Veteran of Vietnam.

He was so concerned with the debt, he'd have the new, higher debt written on the chalk board each day before class to show us that its always increasing.

He'd make comments about how unbelievably high the amount was and how he feared someday it was going to come down on our (student's) heads.

The debt was only 5 trillion and change at the time..
This administration has put on 5 trill, doubled the debt in 8 years, the debt of over 200 years! since our nations founding .. they doubled it in 8 years ... over one small incursion and one small war, Afghanistan and Iraq respectively. Iraq is still a small war compared to WW2 and WW1.

They spent more than it cost to fund all the nuclear weapons research ever done and implement all the production on nukes ever made, way more, over two small conventional wars. It doesnt make sense.

I am not mentioning "the war on terror" but the reforms from that surely added to the debt.

I just can't believe Dubya Dubbled the Debt..

What does that have to do with the topic the rest of us are discussing?

Can't you Bush haters limit yourselves to just a few threads, instead of spewing your crap in every thread?

Now back to our previous discussion. Having looked it up in the UCMJ, I would argue that the soldiers, if they really did do this, could also be charged with being UA. If they did this knowingly, they can be charged as deserters and that is punishable by death.

All this makes me think that this article is bogus. I would like to think that our troops are not stupid enough to incriminate themselves.

You nailed it. Soldier/Marines/etc... have a strong sense of duty and honor, and in doing the mission right, so others aren't at greater risk.
It's a huge insult to us to have such claims made about our courage and commitment, or the notion that they'd be okay with comrades getting killed because they wanted to park their truck and radio in false reports. I guess these traits will never be understood by the anti war crowd, as personal safety is their highest concern, second only to taking things for granted.

plus , an important point that no one else has raised :

if these reports are true - and patrols @ routinely @ laager up in feilds and sit there for the patrol duration

do the idiots believe that the local insurgents have not noticed this ????

i do not want to be suggetsing anything of use to the enemy - but the following tactics are so fooking basic - they are hardly an OPSEC violatiion

if i was the local insurgent commander i would eith :

have my men out at night in the feilds burrying command tetonated IEDs where the patrols stop

be preparing motar firing positions and plotting firing co ordinates to bracket the feild

be making plans for a major ambush - digging heavy machineguns into sangars surrounding the feild

heck - if i had the rescorces - i would do all three

thats why i do not believe this idiocy is genuine

I am not sure if anyone else caught this, but all of the troops that they interviewed are part of the IVAW. There is not one source that is not connected with that organization.

Kind of really make you wonder about the article's authenticity, doesn't it?

I have two very good friends of mine who are currently US Marines, one is one his second tour in Iraq and the other is on his first and both have stated several times that most of what is being reported by the media is either outright lies or huge exaggerations of reality.

The media and most of the membership here has us thinking that every Iraqi is throwing grenades at us and hates our presence. Reality is that a large majority of the so called "Iraqi freedom fighters" are really Iranians, Saudis, etc

I really dont know what some of you are smoking. Go meet some of the people who are actually there and listen to what they have to say. Al Jazerra, Iran, Russia, China, IVAW, the UN, etc are all organizations who have very good reason to lie and make up stories like this.

This is ridiculous. I am beginning to think that people will post anything on this website just to get points.

If this article were true, than the soldiers in it would be opening themselves up to prosecution for a number of charges. Chief among them would be dereliction of duty, which carries a hefty punishment if proven true.

And what happen in the 70's?

Bluegra, my cousins in Afghanistan and from what I understand, not every soldier is unhappy, but there is a great handful of them that are getting sick of patrolling whats mostly now in Afghanistan oil fields. Through his mom, he says there's large number of bases not only in Afghanistan, but Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and close to being finished a new one in Iraq capable of holding thousands of troops.

No one has to believe me, or believe anything im saying, look for yourselves.
