dana just announced chuck liddell vs vanderlei silva live on spike

gonna be on the december 29th ppv with the serra vs hughes fight.

this fight should have happened a few years ago but at least it it happening.

i'm pulling for vanderlei but at this point, all i want is a good fight.
i'll take a throwdown between these two...

this will be a good one. wand's my dude but for some odd reason i think chuck might get him. i can't put my finger on why i think that. i just do.

Only slightly off topic, but tonight at 9, they're replaying the Coutoure v Sylvia fight from a couple UFC ago, if you missed it.

Looks like the new ep of TUF is going to be odd. (at 10pm EDT).

Wow, the judges on this ep of TUF need glasses. Guy gets a knockdown and they score it 10-8 for the OTHER guy????

Even Dana said they sucked. Hope he replaces them. Plus that grinning moron from the judges side who was arguing with Matt Hughes needs a smack upside the head.

well, chuck does have a perfect style for wand. he punches pretty effective as he pedals back.
he is more of a 1 punch knock out guy where as wand usually hits you with a flurry.

i can't root against wand though....

he can't replace them. they don't work for the ufc. they work for the nevada state athletic comission.

i don't always agree with the decisions but i do agree with the 'don't leave it in the hands of the judges' philosophy.

i think they called it about correct. dan did get 1 knockdown but if you watch the fight again, ben got a knockdown too with a knee.
they each dropped each other once.

ben was on his back so dan was in 'dominant' position and he was not doing anything....his whole team telling him to back up and let ben get up and he just stands there.
that his him NOT doing anything with positive control.

of course we see how bad dan sucked in round two. he spent 5 minutes of the 2nd round running in circles, away from ben.

dude is a freak man.....leaving practice to go shadow box in the bathroom with his pants down next to his ankles:bnghd:

anyway, anout the judge arguing with hughes, i agree with the judge there too.
matt comes up with the 'where did you guys go to school and do yuu get judges out of the paper'?
the judge says matt, you have more class than that cause he knows.

hughes is just all pissed of cause HE(as he likes to call it) lost again and HE won't be able to pick any of the quarter final matches.
HE don't know if he wants to be on the show anymore.....did you see the end?
he is crying just like friggin scarola was....

hughes is a big ass ego driven maniac. he is an excellent fighter but not a very good coach. sure, the fighters this season are not the greatest but hughes really is not making with the good coaching.

he basically watches them work out unless they lose and he decides to rough up some of the guys.

guess if dan didn't want it to go to the judges, he should have utilized some of that rasslin..looks like he had some skills in practice but he didn't try anything but a whizzer in the fight.

ben looked goofy but he is no joke man....

he trains and teaches at ATT...
he has a goofy style cause of the JKD systems(LOL) but as you can see, he looks more like a kick boxer/tai boxer with a little but of unconvention.
he is also pretty slick on the ground. i saw him going for the omplata towards the end of the fight, as soon as it hit the ground.

a guy i talk to on another board trains at the school and said when he first started going to the school ben was teaching a class and you see real fast that he is no joke.

i don't like mac so i want to see j-rock vs ben for the finals....
then, i want to see j-rock.

he's a technician and his jj is crisp.


too bad he couldn't drop weight and fight the new jj sensation demian mia...

i know the heavy fav is mac but i think i am going to pull for a final fight of jroc against ben...i really dig ben.

jroc is one hell of a grappler so i think he will be in the ufc no matter what. same goes with mac. mas has held a belt in kotc and fought in pride so this is but a mere formality for him. i think it was to get people used to the name before he makes his splash.
i don't think he is as great as everyone says.
he tapped joey but i think that says more about joey letting it happen than mac taking it....

joey gave him that sub....we'll see i guess.

i say don't count ben out.
he is with att now but he used to train at marcio simas' gracie barra in orlando before he left for att.
gracie barra has a killer pedigree.


i still can't get over this episode the way dan was shadow boxing in the bathroom with his friggin pants around his ankle...

ok, before i go back and watch this episode again to make more comments, i just want to say that his footwork looks terrible. i mean really terrible.
i don't know why he was not trying to shoot in on ben.
as you can see in practice, he clearly has some wrestling. jrock rolled him a little but but he was able to toss him.

had he took the fight down, i think he would have had a better chance.

Yeah, I didn't go back and rewatch the fight from both POV.

One should always do that to avoid a central focus on one guy or the other.

On the Liddell v Silva fight I agree their styles make for a good match up.

I wonder if Silva is a bit past his prime? Same with Chuck?

it's a fantastic matchup but it absolutely past both their primes. i still think it is going to rock but it needed to happen like 4 years ago.
they are both well, 4 years older and coming off of back to back losses.

i don't think wand has fought in a bit and chuck just got his ass knocked out by the guy that wand recently knocked out and knocked out bad.

they say styles make fights and this one, at least on paper stand to be one of those great ones. at a few years too late and both past their peaks, i still want to see it.

silva is better on the ground but chuck has one of the best takedown defenses around so i don't think we are gonna see much action on the ground.
silva has a much better clinch and knees. i think silva has much better cardio.

chuck works fantastically, against all the basic principles of fighting in that he can toss you for a loop while he he backing up and he does it a lot.
he sets it up as he is backing up and then comes in, or he hooks you and knocks you out.
he has the one punch knockout power...
silva don't have that but he can deliver 'punches in bunches' like nobody's business.
IF silva can come in at maybe 70% his usual madman pace to avoid that one big haymaker for chuck, then i think silva has him.
i can see him getting close to chuck and plumming him and hitting him with some knees and a flurry.

i don't think it is going to happen but it would not suprise me if chuck knocked him out though. if anyone can do it, he can.

i am glad they added it to the dec 29th card cause the november card is a giant turd. $40 when the main event is bisping vs rashad evans???

i see why they judged it this way now. just got done watching it again.

most of the fight dan is backing up so ben is 'pressing the action'. also, ben gets the best of most of the exchanges.
dan knocked ben down, then jumped right on him and ben immediately put him in a triangle. he slammed twice and got out of it and just stood there. a little later in the round, ben knocked dan down.

so they both had a knockdown but ben got the better of the exchanges, had a sub attempt and pressed it.


it always blows when it goes to the judges but i say they were right on it.
at BEST it was 10-9 and it still would not have mattered.

the randy press conference he basically said he has a lot going on now and it was not about money but how he was treated, then talked about money.
he mentioned that 'the ufc' hands out bonus checks after the events backstage, at random(how they see)..

for example, at this last event, there were 3, 40k checks handed out.
randy mentioned an event where gonzaga got one and he did not..

then said it's not about the money...

the dana conference was about the hype of liddell vs silva
dana said there was a new spike deal...48 live show ov er 4 years....so, it looks like we are going to get one a month.
also, a new weekly, 30 minute program and the ultimate fighter will go through 2011.

dana said that 'fedor sucks. he is not a top 5 heavy and he does not want him in the ufc'(bwuahahahahahahah....of course over the past months there are numerous interviews and such where dana says he wants fedor very much...he is just mad cause he signed with m-1)

dana said that they have not accepted randy's resignation and also he has not vacated the belt yet. he wants to talk to randy personally cause he thinks they can 'make up' or something like that...

they had brock up there talking about his training...they did not announce an opponent for him but it is going to be on the same saturday as the superbowl.
