I don't know why but this EVP stuff scares the bejeezes out of me

Anyway i wanted to help people and point out that there is a dedicated and freeware pc program called
EVPmaker that generates random background noise for the recording of EVP voices.
You can also ask questions with this program.

i hope im not breaking any rules here, mods

I am the co-founder of a Indiana paranormal research group. We do E.V.P. studies every time we investigate. We went to a place outside of Chicago two weeks ago, called ' Gypsies Graveyard', Just as we entered the cemetery, I had a digital audio recorder running. After reviewing the audio we clearly heard, " I'M GOD", come to find out some kids were playing with a ouija board the weekend before in the cemetery. Soon we will post it on our website, www.indianaghostdoctors.com

I had an EVP experience last year that still blows my mind. It cleared up a lot of my skepticism on the subject!

I have a friend who likes to call me on the phone... sometimes too frequently for my taste, so I've been guilty quite a few times of letting the answering machine pick up when I see her on caller ID. So on this particular occasion, I sat and listened as she left a message, and later that day I played it back, waiting for the option to delete it. While I was listening, my friend was saying something along the lines of "Hey, just calling to say hello... I guess you're taking a nap..." And immediately after that, while she paused between sentences, I heard a distinct loud whisper of "NO". I suppose it would have been amusing, hearing myself being "tattled on" like this, if not for the fact that it was so disturbing! I was so shaken that I actually ended up playing the message for my friend and confessing that I had been screening her calls! She was as amazed by what she heard as I was. To my relief, she was too intrigued to even take offense at my behavior!

Anyway, I actually did record the message onto my computer before deleting it, and I believe I still have it. I tried to analyze it to the best of my limited ability, before finally getting too spooked by the implications. If anyone is interested, I could try to post it when I get my laptop back (it's being repaired at the moment; please spare me any "how convenient" comments!)

I have to say, I don't know what to think about the nature of an entity that would even care that much about the daily events of ordinary people like you and me. I wonder why they'd bother to comment on something as relatively mundane as my relationship with a friend! Maybe the other side is a place of such utter boredom that the spirits of the dead are just itching to chat with the living as they watch us like bad reality tv.

Absolutely without a doubt, the best way to catch EVP's is with a computer and a sensitive microphone.

I have done this in the past and had AMAZING results. As this was about 9 years ago, the data saved is long gone unfortunately.

A simple program called CoolEdit Pro was the software I used since its user friendly and as a great amount of filters.

The EVP's that I captured came out incredibly clear and coherent. Most of the spirits that spoke into the microphone were of a demonic presence. All I got for EVP's were like

"Diiiiiiieeeeeee"
"Give her to us"
*hell sounds of moaning*
Heavy breathing
evil laughing...

So with that being said.....I stopped after I proved to myself this was actually a real phenomenon. Scary as all hell.

Man I just wish I had those EVP's they would have scared the hell out of people!

Good luck

EDIT TO ADD:
I forgot to mention that when using a computer set up, make sure that you go into your sound settings and make sure all the sensitivity levels are all on max. Also if you have any advanced features such as mic boost then use that as well. You want it so that when you press record all you hear is hissing from the amplified air around the microphone, this is where you will have the best of luck. After the session you may use filters to edit out the hiss from the air, and all you are left with are CLEAR EVP'S!

another thing to remember is that if you are using a recorder with a cassette in it, make sure you have an external microphone with it. otherwise you will pick up the sound of the cassette rolling and you dont want that.

this summer my friend and i have plans to visit a few interesting places here in colorado. we will be doing our first EVP attempts as well. if we get anything, i will make sure to post it on ATS.

good luck with your efforts
