Jasn's Rant for Today Vol: ? -- "The ATS Motto is DENY IGNORANCE You Fools!"

ATS = "the Internet's most sophisticated community dedicated to the intelligent discussion and debate of "alternative topics" such as conspiracy theory, UFO's, paranormal, and a host of other subjects."

Funny thing. All over ATS it is made quite clear that the forum is geared toward ALTERNATIVE TOPICS and the INTELLIGENT discussion of said topics. Yet, some people simply cannot resist trying to throw a thread into the argument and crap flinging territory.


On NUMEROUS occasions, I have witnessed people liken ATS to "junk" such as your supermarket tabloids that taut the return of Elvis at a pie factory in Gautier, Mississippi.

As a matter of fact, they seem to find absolutely NOTHING good about ATS aside from those that help criticize the site along with them.

So, my question is this.


WHY ARE YOU HERE?


Does it give you some kind of perverse pleasure when you are able to call someone stupid on an hourly basis?

Does the baseless tearing apart of another person's beliefs and opinions fill some void in your life left as a result of your mom taking away your security blanket as a child?

Why oh why would ANYONE stick around a place that they view as the lowest rung on the societal ladder?



Now, don't get me wrong, this thread is NOT directed at you guys that are disbelievers who actually CONTRIBUTE intelligent discussion. You guys are, and will remain, in my cool book.


This rant is directed toward you morons who have contributed ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to ATS.


How bad must your life be that you have so much time to spend on a forum you absolutely hate? What does it say about you that you can find HOURS out of every day criticizing other people's heartfelt opinions and beliefs?


I would think that the time would be much better spent in a forum that is devoted to your particular belief system.

However, a great number of you seem to feel differently.

Apparently there is nothing you love better than spending hours of your precious life amongst people you find to be the lowest form of intelligence on Earth.


Seriously, what benefit comes to you guys that hate everything ATS stands for? What is your payoff for logging on everyday?

It's obviously not an intellectual benefit. You guys have made it quite clear that you aren't here to learn ANYTHING. Do you have some sort of chemical imbalance that only allows you peace of mind when you are able to keep that mind closed? Or perhaps your criticism of others gives you some other sort of perverse satisfaction akin to what porn gives some people?


I honestly can't imagine what it must be like to be some of you guys. I know I would go crazy if my beliefs and knowledge were unable to expand or even change.


Now, on to John Lear.


Please tell me what it is that John has done to hurt some of you guys so. The way some of you guys speak of him, one would think he had murdered your family or something akin to this. The tone some of you guys take when referring to him is not unlike the tone taken by someone who has suffered a grave injustice at the hands of another.

What is it that John does that offends so many of you so much?


I may be wrong, but I cannot recall any ONE TIME that he has said his word was gospel. Never have I witnessed him cast the first stone against ANYONE who disagrees with him.

Yet, John continues to be the ATS Antichrist amongst a great many of you.


What is wrong? Do his theories scare you? Do some of them make so much sense that they make you insecure in your own beliefs, thus provoking you to attack him?


I just don't get it.


I don't understand your purpose here.


Maybe that's because I'm not a tiny and bitter little person who can't sleep without my daily ration of outward criticism?

Or maybe I just have a good sense of tolerance and RESPECT for the beliefs and opinions of my fellow ATS members.

I don't have to defend John's credibility. I was defending the PERSONAL attacks on him. I, like others, do not agree with every theory John throws out there, but, I DO have respect for him and I respect his right to share his theories.


There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with disagreeing with him or even thinking he's a kook. However, it IS wrong when someone personally attacks him simply because they don't agree with what he is saying.

I have nothing against John Lear. It's just his theories are so insane. The Soul Catcher thing doesn't run well with me because we don't even know if we have souls to catch. Moon bases? A submarine bay underneath the Nevada desert? I usually take things with a pinch of salt, but for Lear, I take a pillar.

It's not just that his theories are bogus, its that he has to know that they are bogus. Furthermore, it's his specialty. Some people mistakenly post a bad theory here and there but John Lear does it on a regular basis. I think he's on a mission to discredit alternative theories.

We can assume these people have too much time on their hands and not have the best self worth. Not worth the waste of your energy on them, let get get bored and go away and or have the mods take care of them.

I give respect to all my fellow ATS'ers out there, that's the ONLY thing they get from me for sure, for a guy like John and Sleeper to put themselves out there for ridicule takes some courage.

Now I don't believe in anything they present but you always want to keep an open mind and read some of it, just in case anything they say has some validity, if not just for amusement. But always give the respect that we would desire be given to us, many people here don't adhere to that.

ATS is a nice community and the close minded on both sides are the minority, that's the good thing.

All I can say man is denying ignorance is what it's all about here at ATS. So let's keep denying it. Trolls will come and go no matter where you're at. The difference between them and us is that we will make intelligent conversation while they expose theirselfs for who they really are. Don't ever let them get to you. Don't ever go to their level because you will never win. In their mind they're always right and your always wrong. It's impossible to win an argument with an ignorant person. Just know that you're not alone.

Everyone has the right to post and agree or disagree. Just because we may not agree with someones theory doesn't give us the right to attack them. Frankly IMO most of John's theory's are as bogus as it comes but remember that is just my opinion. However, I am not going to attack him or anyone just because I disagree with the theory.

Hay ya never know, maybe John will come up with a theory that is spot on. Personally I am tired of those that just seem to post something against others just to attack or bash them.

You got it, brotha!
There are so many reasons the attacks on fellow members has to stop.

1. It shows a willingness to embrace ignorance. If you don't listen, or attempt to stifle a speaker, you may never learn whatever they have to teach. Or share.
2. It disuades potential/current members from ever telling that "unprovable" event he/she witnessed/experienced. It may be that one potential member with the key information that balks at joining and sharing because he thinks he'll be made a fool of by those who speak before they listen.
3. It's against T&C to form a thread focusing on another member in a insultitory (is that a word?) manner, I believe. I think it's rule 4b.
4. It's rude, boorish, spiteful, arrogant and has no quality better than instigation.
5. It's only performed to boost ATS points. They know they will accrue mass amounts of feedback, both positive and negative to their statements and for no other reason than they couldn't afford to buy into RATS or something. Sad, but, transparent.

I'm with you Jasn. I just did a rant the other day about people who disagree with a topic and respond with nothing but the phrase "Nothing to see here, move along". Gads it drive's me crazy! I hate those fosting puckers!


So here, here! Star and a flag! Long live the freedom to post without fear of personal attack!
