*GASP*

*Heavy breathing for a moment*

"I was just dreaming. Everything before this moment was nearly just futility. It's time to drain the lizard and step outside to see the weather."

Each new day can be one of change. Impossibility is just that until the binary is broken down to you. Don't count on my word but who can help piece this together...

Senate is trying to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. This is new to me but old news indeed.

I would like for people to check this treaty out and explain to me why I have heard that this treaty is BAD BAD BAD news for the United States and our global community as a whole.

Check these sites first so that you can get some background information. I encourage ATS members to work together and share all information they find so that an unbiased fact based conclusion can possibly be reached.

Law of the Sea Treaty: Senator Inhofe is also currently working to ensure that the United States does not make the grave mistake of hastily joining the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea by ratifying the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST).

LOST would detrimentally impact the sovereignty of the United States by:

*Creating a governing body known as the International Seabed Authority (ISA) which regulates 70% of the Earth's surface, placing seabed mining, fishing rights and deep-sea oil-exploration under control of a global bureaucracy

*Granting the ISA the power to levy a global tax

*Possibly infringing on the War on Terror by interfering in the President's Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) combating the transfer of WMD's.

*We must have an open, honest, and thorough discussion on this treaty. This is not a treaty to be glossed over and rushed through - the implications are too far reaching and the consequences for our national security would be grave.

A friend here at work just mentioned this to me. Thought it needed a bump.

i will start off by saying that i have never even heard of this until now, but i just read it and it is the scariest piece of legislation i have seen on the senate floor. it is truly scarier than the PATRIOT act, and presents me with a new found cause to fight against.

the idea that the government (UN) is going to redistribute the mineral deposits in the seabed is startling. they also add that to use international water it takes a $250,000 application fee and 1 million per year, on top of a percentage of the companies earnings.
that is ridiculous.

there are many other objection i have, but this was the most startling. the UN is proposing the use of eminant domain over the sea and INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. this means technoledgy.

what!?

Glenn Beck on L.O.S.T.

Today's story has it all: money, power, socialism, national security, world government, oil -- even global warming -- and yet, no one in the media is talking about it. It all revolves around an international agreement called the "Law of the Sea," or the "LOST," treaty -- and even though we've been fighting it off since the days of Ronald Reagan, we're now closer than ever to ratifying it.

Essentially we would be turning over billions of dollars of resources to an international body. Also this could dramatically hinder our ability to trade using the Ocean.
