Hi xbrendanx, I believe the "Wow Signal" came from the centre of the Galaxy, or at least in that direction...

Einstiens theory of General Relativity does indeed admit wormhole metrics. However, a wormhole requires matter with an negative energy density (ordinary matter has a positive energy density) to stay open. Worse is to come: the horizon is inherently unstable- if you try to pass the horizon will collapse. You would also need to take your exit gate to your destination otherwise you would emerge anywhere! In short, you would need to take your exit gate to Andromeda (if that was your destination) and then you could use it as a short cut.

Recent models have shown that even in a stable wormhole, there would be a rain of toxic radiation (from energetic particles) on the event horizon making such journeys lethal to human travellers. The Wormhole is perhaps not the greatest short cut poeple think it is!!!

Well, we don't know that for sure. And also, radiation, what if someday a new material is created or discovered that completely absorbs it? Rendering fallout from nukes useless? Oh how the age of mankind would blossom!

Unless I'm mistaken. The theory on wormholes is that you'd need the negative energy of about 100 million suns to create it.

Have fun trying to build up that amount of energy and being able to do it anytime you want

There was a show on the History Channel not very long ago that was called Star Wars Tech I think. They said a lightsaber could be possible, but the power source would be about the size of a 4 story building

I just heard on the news that some guy called Kenneth Arnold was flying his plane in Washington state and saw a group of saucer shaped aircraft flying around?! Can anyone confirm this>?

This is old news im guesing about ten years old. It was a spike in the signal once thats it. It was not repeatable. To have a confirmed signal it must be picked up multiple times by multiple observatories. So there for this whole post could have been avoided with a little looking in to.

A ton of lengthy threads could be clipped with even the slightest looking into, whats your point? People prefer to take the easy way, post something they want to believe and let the stink hit the wall. Do you think that will ever change around here? I wish.....

Im still pretty new to this place and for a short while I enjoyed reading the topics. Lately for whatever reason its just full of BS topics started by outright trolls lookin to get a rise out of people which is too bad:-S

SETI@home is still carrying on the search, this time with distributing computer projects. Again, promising results pop up.

The current buzz is about something similar:

en.wikipedia.org...

They are, however, still anylizing the data.
