Looks and style are for display purposes only.

It doesn't matter if it looks like a pregnant guppy or a short-necked goose... it's the dependability that counts, imo.

I've only one thing to say about 'sexy' aiplane frames... the DC3.

Ugly and unpretentious, it's amazing to see this ugly planes still in service after all these years.

BUFFY comes to mind as well.

We used to laugh when we'd see a brand new 747-400 sitting on the hardstands waiting to be worked on, and watch the DC-3s taking off to fly interisland day after day no matter what the weather. That old bird is a workhorse and will probably out live all of us.

Seen this on Dailytech and just had to post it

Singapore Airlines Says No to Nookie in A380 Double Bed Suites

Singapore Airlines has seen fit to equip its A380 with 60 business class seats and 399 economy class seats. In addition, the Singapore Airlines A380 has 12 first class luxury suites complete with a double bed and 23" flat panel television.

Interestingly enough, despite promotional pictures showing the double beds equipped littered with rose petals and a tray complete with wine and wine glasses (see right); Singapore Airlines discourages passengers from having sex in the suites.

SIA is going to put that to a test. The plane is going to make daily round trips 7 days a week untill the second one arrives. I have no doubt that the only standdown will be for MRO activities and the majority will done during the 3-4 hour layover in Singapore each day. Airbus also has extra staff on hand as well.

Congrats to Airbus on its sucsessfull intoduction into service of the A380

ChiKeyMonkey mentions driving down prices but Im not so sure. Most airlines have equipped thier a/c with far less seats than its maximum prefering to go with uber class type cabins as that were the $$$$$ is. 450-500 seems to be where they will be at. I doubt its going to trickle down to us economy fare schmoes anytime soon.

Thats one way of looking at it....

...another is that there has never been a better payoff ratio for trying to pretend your a 1st class passenger

I took some pics of the SIA A380 (called SQA380 IIRC) at Changi when I taxiied by on another airline. Couldn't get to the boarding gate at which it was docked to take frontal pics because the airport authorities had blocked it up.

Anyways.. here are the pics:

EDIT:

I noticed A quaint little change at Changi to accomodate the A380. All runways/taxiways were marked with 'max allowed wingspan' just so that the A380 doesn't wander off to somewhere its not supposed to be!
