Has anybody heard anything else on this supposed date of destruction. If I remember correctly a countdown was put up on the net by Al-Queda(?), stating that a major city in the United States was going to "disappear"

Will try to find original posts

heres the thing. the muslims have a celebration of some sort of on febuary second, it will be febuary 1st still over here and the superbowl is febuary first. my guess that something major is planned on that day. like the super bowl. if a city is to disappear it will probally be houston.

Thats what I've heard here and other places also, especially since the President is supposed to go to the superbowl. Wonder if he really will
Plus if you read this story , I'tl make you wonder. I know it's not nuclear, but still is worrisome

You got a problem!
Sounds like a theory to me. Boy, terrorists would love to ruin a day which americans made an informal national holiday based on entertainment, fun and sport.
There is no way to keep this from happening at all....the possibilities are too vast. Good Luck all

Well, Superbowl would be a perfect place to cause maximum casualties. A lot of people gathered in a relative small place and packed togheter. Don't need a big bomb to kill lot of people.

I am thinking about those so-called suitcase nukes that is supposed to be missing from former Soviet Union. Imagine the destruction if such device would blow a Superbowl arena. BOOM, 100 000 people dead.

thesuper bowl would be a perfect target, but why stride where the defense is the strongest? it would also be a perfect day to attack another target far away while all the attention was on houston.......

Yep and saw the movie.

Dirigible loaded with explosives and shrapnel (nails wasn't it?)
Anyway, the last few nights, I have seen a dirigible flying over Tampa at night....not saying it has anything to do with anything, but remember 9-11...they practiced before it happened.

As a nearby resident, my only response to this is "Don't mess with Texas!"

All Muslim nations better pray that none of their extreamists do anything stupid.

You think the reaction after 911 was brutial? You aint seen nothing! Let something of the magnitude being discussed in the thread happen on US soil. The middle east will be one large sheet of glass!

Riiiaagght!

1. more than one billion muslims are already praying for peace on earth, though thanks for the reminder.
2. it is not their terrorists
3. I think you ain't seen the power of guerilla war and fighters. The US would went nuts after an attack going straight onto "evil" countries will make the world turn into the biggest guerilla war ever and this is a war only against the USA then.
4. I assume you don't even know basics of the Islamic religion and the middle-east conflicts.

You really wouldn't need a nuke. The Super Bowl will be played about 10 miles as the crow flies from the Port of Houston.

All anyone would have to do is plant a small bomb on a ship coming into the port timed to explode at a certain time. A small device would do the trick because the port is surrounded by one of the biggest petrochemical complexs in the world.

I've lived in Houston all my life, 42 years and I think if a bomb went off in the right place just before, say the day before the Super Bowl, the port and everything within a 2 mile radius at a minimum would be instantly distroyed including my house. Remember what happened in Texas City in 1947? One man smoking unloading fertilizer I think blew up everything for miles.

This of course would not only distroy a large area, it would distroy the US petrochemical production for years to come. Gas prices would skyrocket to well over 5 dollars a gallon. The Super Bowl would of course be canceled.

But if a nuke did go off, depending on the wind direction it would kill closer to 500.000 people within the first 24 hours. Downtown is 7 miles north of the stadium. If the wind blew to the east it would irradiate the port. If the wind were to blow west then Ex President Bush Sr. would be killed by the fall out along with several 100 thousand other people that reside in the Galleria area about 6 or 7 miles west. If the wind blew south then it would contaminate everything between the stadium and the Gulf of Mexico for years to come not to mention it would distroy the entire Gulf fishing industry.
