I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to why these icebergs were showing up when noone can recall them ever being close to places they show
up.
New Zealand Iceberg Story
You all probably remember the iceberg off the coast of New Zealand in Nov, 2006.
I was scanning the RSOE Emergency and Disaster Information Service tonight and saw an alert for South Africa where there is an iceberg coming close
to shore there as well.
News Story from SA regarding ice berg
Iceberg Warning
"This is very unusual and in fact we don't know of anything in recent history that has being reported this close to South African waters," Craig
Lambinon, spokesman of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), was quoted as saying.
I guess my real question is "Why are these icebergs floating north and coming into contact with places they have never been before and whats
causing them to break off and not just melt? Just seems odd to me.
