Web illiterate juror in RIAA Case Don't understand Spoofing.

www.news.com

In the interview with Wired's David Kravets, Hegg, a steelworker, said that during deliberations, the jury concluded after only five minutes that Thomas was guilty. He said that they spent five hours trying to decide what to award the recording industry. Hegg, 38, said the jurors did not believe her story that someone spoofed her IP address.

"She should have settled out of court for a few thousand dollars," Hegg told Wired. "Spoofing? We're thinking, 'Oh my God, you got to be kidding.' She's a liar."

I love this jury of peers which is what should have happened. People that are knowledgeable in regards to the Internet, some jurors had never even been on the internet.

This RIAA case in court is almost a joke, she obviously was railroaded if they didn't understand what the term spoofing was and deliberated in only 5 minutes.

And the media is saying she is "Guilty" which is actually wrong. Guilty is a term used in a criminal case, not a lawsuit the judgment is for or against, period.

Also what was not raised by the defense attorney is that a computer on the net whether the IP was spoofed or not, can become the target of a hacker and be used as a host unknowingly by someone who is not tech savy.

For instances you get a Trojan or someone hacks your computer and uses your IP, PC, and hard drive and installs programs that will upload and download music, spam emails, etc. Whatever the hell the hackers want to use it for.

This was never even brought up in the case. Bad defense attorney that did not do his or hers due diligence.

I have personally had this happen to me at least 5 times on my PC and or server in the past 10 years.

Also the program Kazaa itself if left on can become a Trojan and leaves access to online computers, this was also not covered.
