Finding my way around

I am not big on watching the news, and I don't read the newspapers. I find I am becoming quite cynical when I do come across mainstream "news."

Some would say I am living with my head in the sand. My mother has said I should keep abreast of the current news - that it is my responsibility. But again, is mainstream news really accurate?

My husband told me about this site. He became a member, then suggested I do the same. As I read through many of the articles and posts, I am quite intrigued by the topics.

I am looking forward to reading, commenting and posting - and looking forward to comparing mainstream news to the posts here. I do not believe everything I hear - but I will read everything and have an opinion. Can't wait to read yours.

This site's awesome because of the differing viewpoints. So you can compare and contrast and see what makes sense the most to you based on all the available arguments presented. That's what I like about it. Better than being fed what to think by the talking heads on the news. Seriously, you don't really exercise your mind watching something; you do if you read.

Thanks for the welcome! I am already interested in the MANY, MANY posts - almost overwhelming. I saw your location ... although geography was never my strong suit. Combining your very sweet picture, your name and the latitude and longitude of your location - I am hoping you will satisfy my curiosity and tell me what state you are in (otherwise I will be online trying to demystify the code).
