As the title says, has anyone had these and would like to share? Ive heard various accounts and have read several.

When I was 19 I decided I was a big boy and the best thing to do when being a big boy, get a sport bike. I was very much invincible and did various stupid things. Long before getting into bikes I was brought up racing Jr Drags and building and racing cars with my dad so bikes were the next step. I wanted to go fast, and I did at 65mph I hit a speed hump on a chicago street and got some nasty road rash. I was saved by my helmet and managed only a sprained ankle and some ruined leathers and burns. They say your life flashes before your eyes, my life didnt really but I did get some key points and recalled forgetting to do important things. I guess it was a movie trailer of the past couple of months before the accident.

No white lights or anything but I wasnt knocked out. Perhaps someone has a better story?

I think this is an interesting topic, but the thing about NDE's is they're so impressionable. Many of the stories are if your Hindu you see Krishna. Catholic you see God, a cross or a blonde haired angel. I do believe some are legit though. The most pure seem to be those of children. Good topic though

I like your response. Wouldnt any real loving god show you what you wanted to see if you were a good person if one exists? I dont discredit these sightings of religious figures because I believe all religions offer a generally good message and any real loving god wouldnt care about the what path you took more so that your journey ended well.

i had a bike accident at about 120mph
and for the first time in my life
i honestly thought i was gonna die, big time, no getting away from it.

i remember the whole accident
i fought like crazy to keep my arms and legs in but the forces were to great and i guess in the end i gave up fighting it

i had no time to think of my daughter or family
just
the simple thought of "i am gonna die here in the middle of the street"

it took me a long time to recover, physically and mentally
and i will never forget that dread of knowing I WAS GONNA DIE...

what kept me living,
i honestly dont know
but i know i should have died that day

peace

I was about a nanosecond from becoming a hood ornament for a chevy g20 stepvan in '71. I was about 7 or 8. I did see my young life pass before my eyes. My dad forced me to take his hand crossing a busy street on green and he whip yanked me from certain death.

Nice link thank you. Seems like the ball is slowly rolling on this subject.
Guess not enough people come close to death on ATS.

My Death Experience,

On June 22, I and the family we on a camping/canoe trip, when the worst thing in my life happened. I had a massive heart attack while putting our tents up. I had what's called a Widow Maker heart attack. According to the doctor and online research, only 1 in 10,000 (no joke) souls will live thru that kind of heart attack. After the EMT's took me by ambulance from the camp ground to the local hospital, it was ordered that I must be taken by helicopter to another hospital 60 miles from where we were. My wife and kids had to drive for an hour to there, while my flight was going to be 25 minutes. After getting settled in and the flight started, I was feeling some relief and told the EMT, I was going to close my eyes and rest a bit. During that time, I was met by my Grandparents whom I loved and adored. We were walking together and so happy, it was so peaceful and serene. Suddenly the pain of the Deliberator was felt ripping thru my chest. I told them, I got to go now... I love you and miss you, but I really got to go. When I started to come too, the EMT's were doing CPR and yelling my name. My heart had stopped, if one believes in such things, I believe they had come to cross me over. After arriving at the ER, I was able to talk to the doctor, and answer his questions; I felt like crap but was awake and asking for my wife. They said she hadn't arrived yet. The doctor started ordering the people around me to start stuff that sounded like it was going to hurt. I looked up at him and asked am I going to die? What is happening? He said you’re having a massive heart attack. You died once and I said please... don't let me die. He looked at me and said not it I can help it. I told him, I'm going to rest now. I remember feeling, God... Its all yours now. I was so tired. A few minutes later my heart gave out again and I flat lined. I guess at that point the tubes were put down my throat and started CPR. When my wife and kids arrived to the hospital, which was about 30 minutes after I landed, they were greeted by a nurse and Chaplin. She was told by the nurse, she was sorry to say, I probably wouldn't make it, and she might want to call family. She was told that I had flat lined already and was revived, but my heart was so unstable, the doctors might not be able to bring me back if I flat lined again. The nurse left and the Chaplin was consoling her and the kids, and during that time, they were moved into a different waiting room and she started the horrible task of calling my mother and father and telling them the news. The Chaplin was going back and forth getting updates from the Doctor and was letting her know the progress. The Chaplin came out the last time and said I was stable. I had 3 stints inserted into the clogged arteries and with angioplasty, my heart was beating, but I wasn't able to sustain it without life-support. So she was asked if there was any kind of a will or such that if I was in agreement or was she for me to be put on life support. Shortly later the wife said, the Chaplin came out and said the doctor was coming out to see her in a few minutes. My wife said it was 3o minutes later before the doctor came out. He told her as he was walking away from the table, and my heart gave out for the 3rd time again. I coded again. I was clinically dead at this point. On Sat morning, I awoke in the ICU and was truly out of it. There stood my wife, kids and the doctor and 2 nurses. I hated the tubes down my throat and there were 7 IV's in my arms. But I was alive. The doctor told me that it wasn't him that kept me coming back. He said I was a true fighter, and there were some powerful forces at work that kept bringing me back. 12 days later, on July 4th, I was released to go home. I was almost 3 hours from home and it was a long drive. The kids had gone back with family. My heart was damaged, and Nov 16 i am getting a defib attached to my heart. Lets talk

I personally haven't had a NDE, but my brother has.
When we were younger, we went to a friends house to go swimming. They didn't have a pool fence, so my brother (who was like 4 at the time), decided to run around the pool as fast as he could, and he of course slipped and fell in. He couldn't swim so, he was flailing about for like 30 seconds, until he sunk.
I noticed he wasn't around, so I walked over to the pool and saw him underwater. I ran over and yanked him out (I seriously had a burst of super-human strength or something, as I was only a skinny 7 year old) and he was (luckily!) OK. He hadn't passed out or anything, but we were all VERY shaken. A couple years ago he told me he swears he saw an Angel or something when he sunk underwater.

Glad you came back Sawmaw. Will be praying for you Nov. 16 when you have your surgery.

My near death experience was also in the hospital in ICU. My lungs were failing, I was very depressed and didn't care if I lived or died. My family had been called in as I was in very serious condition.

I was laying in the hospital bed hooked up to several machines and could not have gotton out of bed if I had wanted to.

I remember a woman telling me to get up and go with her. She had red hair. I could not see her face, only her back. She was dressed in a beautiful wool looking skirt and equally beautiful sweater in an off white color. I could see a bright tunnel where the bathroom door was. I was out of bed reaching for her hand.

She seemed upset with me. She said come on now, it isn't time but if you want to go then lets go. Suddenly I woke up with nurses all around my bed trying to wake me up. They said I wasn't breathing.

I'm happy I didn't go.

There was this time after I go swimming, I went back home, bath, eat and sleep. When I fall asleep, I started dreaming I was at the swimming pool but I was invisible-no one can see me, I called my Dad, he didn't answer and just walk away...And the next minute I think I felt myself being turn upside-down and I felt myself drown...and that's when I woke up. I don't know whether this is a NDE, But it seem very vivid so I share it.

You need look no further than one of our own Kinglizard. He has a fairly detailed account of his experience during a hostpital visit where he was diagnosed with "double pneumonia (both lungs), third stage empyema and a kidney infection"

He'll probably stop in and visit this thread once he sees it's here. Or you could U2U him.

Well I still remember this quite clearly

2 years ago on April it had been kinda stormy and stuff.. no rain just lightning
I figured... Hey 1 in 10,000 chance of being hit by lightning right? so I went out to watch and noticed the lightning hit just a neighborhood away, so being as I wanted to see it well I went over to that neighborhood and lie in the grass away from the trees... stupid thing seeing as I was the highest thing up in the field... it took about 4 hours and the hair on my arm started standing straight up, I was taught that when your arm hair goes up in a lightning storm that the electricity is trying to connect with you before the strike... So I ran like crazy trying to find something taller then me.. seeing as there wasnt I got hit. The strike hit me dead on in the back of the leg where my chain to my wallet was hanging(not that my chain attracted the lightning but it was the best conductor on my already connected body) The strike itself was painless because of how fast it was but the minutes after felt like days. I stay lay in the field with my leg burning like it'd been cut off, unable to breathe, move, hear, or smell anything... though I could feel my leg quite well. I was thinking that maybe I was hit in the chest or the back or somewhere else and that I was going to die.. because at the time I wasnt told where I was hit. It took what felt like a day to me for someone(something really) to come out and help me, who I thought was someone taking me away to whatever happens after you die... well it was my dog, I love her so much and I never forgive myself for leaving her outside while the storm was going. She had grabbed my pants leg and dragged me to a backyard(I presume since people started handling me soon after I had stopped being dragged) The people took me to the hospital, the car ride was horrible.. dont want to go into the pain of a vibrating truck.. I couldnt hear or see anything and had no idea where I was so when I woke up in the hospital I was a little hostile at first and ended up trying to stand up (I hadnt quite gotten my bearings) well... I couldnt stand up and tumbled over hitting my head on the corner of a table.. which cut into my head... fun fun... one after another. I was knocked out completely and apparently I had "died" because my heart stopped and I stopped breathing for a while.. I am alive now so apparently they brought me back ^_^ Im greatful. My leg is completely healed now except a nice burn scar.. its not so much a burn as just a scar where the skin melted away.. nasty thing. My head is fine to now. All in all I do not regret it.

And yes I still go out in lightning storms where they are at just to watch them ... But I dont panic when I wake up in another place then I went to sleep at

1998 i had my only NDE.

To make a long story short, I was attacked on halloween 1998 by Bloods gang members thinking I was a member of the Latin Kings.I never was a member of any gang to make that clear to all but by coincidence i was wearing the same gang colors as the latin king "Black & Gold".

Without brutal details, I was stabbed several times and beaten very badly.
All i remember the of the NDE was that i was in a dark place then a place that seem to be outdoors in daylight.I was surrounded by people that i could'nt see for some reason but felt like i knew them, I remember feeling happy and at peace. Then the "People" were taking me some place and thats when i woke up at the hospital 3 days later.
