ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Republican Sen. Pete Domenici of New Mexico, one of the most influential voices in Congress on budget and energy issues, announced Thursday that he is retiring at the end of his sixth term because of a degenerative brain disease.

this is interesting to me because i was wondering who might take his place as senator? maybe someone with a pro-amnesty agenda supporting bush's NAU? or maybe someone thats going to step up and put in place new deterrents to illegal immigration? but more than likely another do nothing important for new mex senator. anyways thoughts comments?
