The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) plans to carry out a lunar orbit injection maneuver (LOI1) for the "KAGUYA" (SELENE) from around 5:55 a.m. on October 4, 2007 (Japan Standard Time, JST.)
The "KAGUYA" (SELENE) is a lunar explorer launched by the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 13 (H-IIA F13) on September 14, 2007 (JST) from the Tanegashima Space Center.

I thought i would post this in order to track any upcoming information that may come forward regarding the "Kaguya Mission"

I first hope Kaguya retrieves orbit with no glitches.

I am skeptical as to what will be released now and in the future. I have no idea on how the Japanese government is on disclosure, hopefully better than NASA. John Lear and company are you ready for dissection? I am! I'm just anxious to see some new and hopefuly rewarding photo's of the moon. How about the dark side? Too many unanswered questions there? Time will tell, I hope.

But you've got the news from JAXA.

The Japanese, it would appear, have the hard science on their to do list, but it looks like the Chinese will be doing the serious pic snapping.

Coming up, 3D lunar pics from China's Chang'e 1 "before the end of the year."

That is, if they share.
