Hi its nice to see so many theories being thrown around and to be honest some have , well , er lost me a little , i like the analogy of the ants as that is quite any easy concept to grasp

So the religion side of things seems to be pointing (to me) that "GOD" is not a being but an energy in us all, in everything. Like Chi if u will....

So if that is the case , then any alien race more advanced or less advanced than us MUST have the same creator/God ???

Good to see no back biting tho

Regards to all

That is exactly the trap that many have fallen into, my friend.

Surley the possibility of no alien life in the Universe is the same as exciting as alien life in the Universe?

I agree with you at this time, I have yet to see any convincing evidence that ETs are visiting us, sadly...

Read the post and actually think about what I said.

I was implying that I don't think we, the human race, will have learnt from the mistakes we have made here on earth and that in our arrogance we would repeat them on any other planet we encounter with a civilization not as technically advanced as ours.

Your response would suggest that I am right however, as it is the only response of that nature, I can only assume that everyone else realised what the post was trying to, humourously, get across.

Personally, I can see the benefits of something akin to the Star Trek "Prime Directive" allthough I would hope that if we had developed technically enough to travel the vast distances involved, we would also have developed enough to offer beneveolent guidance without imposing our morals and beliefs upon them.

You thought you was understanding it?

Think again.

I am widely travelled in the occult, in all it's forms.

There is no such thing as a benevolent spirit in the occult realm.

All of them are out for one thing.....to ensnare you.

But.......people won't listen.....they rush headlong into an abyss from which there is no escaping.

This is the 'enlightened age'....is it not???

Naga Len to really blow away the cobwebs and get those senses working, washed down with a chiraf or 3 of wine finished with some Irish coffee!

Yeah, but only the 1, maybe the penny is dropping.

As for rape n pillage, i'm too old for it all anyway now.
Unfortunately, i'm certain the moral majority in all their piousness would insist upon it.

And therefore have a unique responsibility?

I find it very hard to believe that we are the only ones. Based on age of the known universe and the number of celestial bodies out there, we would be at the lower level of the universes evolution chain. We could be millions of years behind some. I also believe that to be objective God must be left out of the matter, regardless of your religious beliefs.

There is a "What If " there ! maybe we are maybe were not.
We dont really know do we really ? i agree there is a very high probability of there being other forms of intelligent life out there .

What im trying to gauge is the amount of belief out there amongst the members here that , think there is, to the ones who hope there is.

What grounds do u have apart from the age and size of the universe to think there is ?

Why do you hope there is ?
I fall in the middle lol cos im not sure ! so i could say that , i would like to hope to think there are others out there!

The sheer Vastness of the Universe 'which is basically impossible for the human mind to comprehend' leads me to believe that not only are we the NOT the only , there is an abundance of life out there.

Sure they may be too far away, and that blasted short window of time that both civilizations would have to be living in the universe basically within the blink of an eye, kinda cuts down on how many civilizations i once thought were out there.

But IF the universe is truely 'infinite', again it's almost a guarantee that there is are civilizations as advanced or more advanced than our own.

This is without even getting into parallel universes, and string theories ect, which makes for infinite amounts of infinite universes.

But yes, until there is proof, we have nada, just theory.

The distances need to be overcome, and as soon as we employ zero point energy, and faster than lightspeed travel, I don't think WE will be the ones finding E.T., so right now it's up to them to basically contact us. Which I believe they have. But that's my own personal opinion as a believer.

Not to get off the subject though, I've sometimes had this passing feeling that I am the only one, and everyone around me is not real, and this whole existance is a either a dream of mine, or set up for me for experimental purposes.

I've had only one odd episode in my life (I don't believe it was extra terrestial, as much as it was involving the maker/makers). Too scary and personal to really even talk about. But I got the feeling everyone was in thier own perpetual neverending existance, reincartion maybe, or perhaps just living this same life over and over again. I hope it was the former.

OP, think about the Drake Equation/Green Banks theory,
I doubt there is anyway we're alone:

en.wikipedia.org...

also: www.activemind.com...

The Drake Equation was developed by Frank Drake in 1961 as a way to focus on the factors which determine how many intelligent, communicating civilizations ...

unfortunatley arktkchr this is not an equation in the true sense, it is a statistical entity. Moreover many of it's terms remain largely unknown- the rate of star formation, the longevity of a civillization and so on. One can put in any number values and come up with widly different numbers.

I think, from our view point at the moment is is strictly 50/50, although I strongly belive the Universe is fuilled with life, that is of ocurs eonly my opinion!

Hey guys, can I join the conversation? I think its sad to think that we are the only life in the universe. Although the Old man does have a good point that would make us that much more special if we were the only ones. I've been thinking about this since I was a kid and I for one would rather believe that theres all kinds of different types of life in the universe.
I dont understand why its so wrong to think that way it just makes sence to me thats all.

The proper decoding of genesis seems to indicate so. Genesis 1 through 6 is the only recorded history book before the flood, the last time 'wormwood' came around with extreme gravitational effects. Well, other than the vedic literature, if you give that any merrit that is. Its said that greys, or another race, had intercourse with the daughters of men, to bore sons of renown, that satan tried to use to take over the earth at the time. Good thing wormwood came around then, he will fail again, even if it means the expense of our lives.

That is exactly the trap that many have fallen into, my friend.

Yes, A trap indeed. Our chi is not god itself. I myself have been in touch with and discovering my chi, learning to channel it. I find I can now hold my breath a very long time with chi circulation. It was said the ninja could breathe underwater. Interesting, I'm starting not to doubt it or shrug it off as western myth with the power of the mind over matter, and the practical use of chi. I hope to do it one day. Anyway, Each of our souls is a sub atomic particle smaller than an electron. How it communicates with the brain exactly is unknown. Each of these sub atomic particles, or our souls, is a small piece of god. Anyone know what those pictures are that are the same thing once you get closer and closer to it, it just forms the same image, then fully blown out it is the same image. I forget what this is called, but its pretty much what we are with god. You can't call every physical thing god, I don't think, because matter is just a vibration range.

This is my belief anyway, its based on what is said in vedic literature, again if you give that any merrit.
