I found this while researching the infamous Operation Garden Plot plan on the net. It's a link to a PDF Document for Judge Advocates General regarding operations during the plan.

The problem is, the doc doesn't exist anymore. At least on the net.

And what's very tantalizing is this brief excerpt seen on Google:

of entry through the use of sidescan sonobuoys or divers to detect alien ...... Department of Defense Civil Disturbance Plan (GARDEN PLOT) ...

Then nothing. Not even a cache link to see it in earlier versions.

Now, generally speaking, the term "alien" in gov't docs means illegal aliens, not th extraterrestrial kind. But in this case, I can't figure out why you would use sonobuoys and divers to detect illegal aliens in our oceans.

Things that make you go hummmm......

Hi behindthescenes,

The quote from the document in the Original Post above stops just before the words that explain the context and meaning of the word "alien".

The full document refers to "the use of sidescan sonobuoys or divers to detect alien devices or containers attached to vessel hulls, or other underwater activities".

These words appear at pages 35-36 of the full version of the relevant document.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Isaac

Thanks Isaac! I figured I was reading it out of context. My guess was using sonobuoys to detect commercial ships with illegals in their hulls. But this makes more sense.

Thanks for clearning it up. The quest for the truth continues....
