ok this is my first thread., i have an interesting theory and want to get feed back. has anyone thought about what it says in the bible about creation and time? there are discrepencies in the time lines between what we test when we do carbon dating and what creationists believe. here is a middle ground theory.
when God created the world time started. ok but there was no sin or death. and people did not age. so time did not really start for humans until adam sinned and humans were thrown out of eden . so the question i have is how much time actually past between adams creation and the fall of man... did this eternal life that adam was experiencing apply to animals? if not this would explain why there are fossils that are hundreds of thousands of years old and only a few thousand for humans. just a thought.

Probably easier to accept that genesis was never meant to be taken a literal fact.

Your mileage may vary...

I think it is far more valuable taken as a metaphysical instruction.

Interestingly, the amount of time ascribed to creation is 6 days - which, interpreted as 24-hour periods, collectively is 144 hours. A number which is then represented in Revelation, multiplied by 10 to the 3rd power.

I believe as Galileo Galilei wrote in his letter to the Grand Duchess of Tuscany (taken from an 'attestation' of an unnamed 'holy and learned theologian'):

For since every truth is in agreement with all other truth, the truth of Holy Writ cannot be contrary to the solid reasons and experiences of human knowledge.

Empirical evidence, such as what we have in regard to geology, archeology, etc, is not something I'm willing to deny or manipulate in order to prove spirituality by making the bible into a text-book on mundane matters...and metaphysical is the mode of thought where matter and spirit coincide without contradiction or conflict.

I find it funny that people try and find there these numbers in things like this... the number could prove irrelevant, lets just think that the story has been misinterpreted over the vast time frame in which it was first created and it could have a total different meaning, the one that the original story/truth was meant to have!

it doesn't really make sense... we see certain animals in certain time periods. 65+ million years ago we have dinosaurs, but no house cats.

if the genesis account was true, there should be house cats in the same strata as dinosaurs.

It is because time is not what you think it is lineal terms. so in fact if past, present and future are happening at the same "TIME" all exists at once and so the geneses story is true and not false, but then everything you believe is true to some extent even when not rational!

this is the sort of pseudo scientific stuff that really puts me in a down mood.

in fact nothing, the nature of time has yet to be properly determined to the point of "fact"

and even if all events happen at the same time... the genesis story is false. we'll say the universe is dimensions x,y,z, and t. t is time. animal 1 doesn't exist for all values of t, nor does it exist from the lowest value of t to the highest value of t.

time is still a dimension, regardless of its passage, if the genesis story were correct all animals would come into being at the same value of t.

who even said time exists... more likely just a label we use to please our own minds to not cause any confusion within this framework we currently are stationed in!

now this is the post-modernist BS that we need to rid ourselves of. time is a part of the universe. it is the 4th dimension. that's established. it has been there for about 13.7 billion years (give or take)

yes. i never thought of it that way . but do you see my main point? we do not know how much time elapsed between the creation and the fall of man.

The only thing we need to rid ourselves of is people like you, Who established thost so called fact of the 4th dimension? Facts are just accepted fiction... what were once facts are now fiction and the process changes all the time... in your so called near future your current fact could be proven false! so before you start rambling on about how much bs i say. always realize that you are most likely saying alot of bs aswell... just your ignorance blinds you!

get away from the personal attack. i said we need to rid ourselves of the IDEA you presented.

ad hom attacks, they're logical fallacies, don't use them

Who established thost so called fact of the 4th dimension?

well, physicists. the theory works, it's proven. everything about time being the 4th dimension works in a testable manner.

Facts are just accepted fiction...

no, they aren't...
facts aren't something that change/

what were once facts are now fiction and the process changes all the time...

...no, things that were once considered factual have been proven wrong by the REAL facts.

in your so called near future your current fact could be proven false! so before you start rambling on about how much bs i say. always realize that you are most likely saying alot of bs aswell... just your ignorance blinds you!

no ignorance blinds me, i admit i could be wrong, i just don't accept your ignorance.

you're BLINDLY challenging accepted science. you know, i have no problem with challenging accepted science, just do it with something other than a haphazard combo of pseudo science and post-modernist philosophy.
