Judy Dean: First lady material?

It was really good to see Howard Dean's wife Judy last night in their interview with Diane Sawyer. She seemed very real and down to earth, kind, supportive, smart and even humble. (Rare for a potential first lady.) She reminded me of the average, hard-working American, unlike any possible first lady I've ever seen. That was refreshing. I especially liked the answer she gave Sawyer when asked about a possible conflict with regard to raising their children and religion. She said there was no conflict. They celebrate the Jewish holidays with her family and Christian holidays with his. And that the kids can follow whichever faith they like. I like that. I like her. And I hope to God Dean wins the nomination.

I just wanted to see what other people thought of her.

I don't really have an opinion of her, because she stays out of the limelight as much as possible so I don't know very much about her. All I know is she is very successful and works hard.

People who question her ability to fill the role of First Lady are way off base. There is no constitutional requirement for it, anyways. Besides, there have been some real horror shows for First Lady over the past 2 centuries - just look at Mary Todd Lincoln.

I find the concept that the First Lady should be some sort of magical hostess who schmoozes foreign dignitaries and hosts lavish White House parties to be counter to our concept of the executive branch and all too reminiscent of European royalty.

Democrats: seem to put women as equals, even ran one as VP once. They look for strong accomplished women, evidentially from a lack of fear in who'se "Da Man". Hillary = Advanced degree & professional accomplishment prior to First Lady. Mrs. Dean = ditto. AND, their children are acomplished & well adjusted.

Laura Bush = I'm convinced she's constantly sedated, Elvis style. Killed an old boyfriend. Daughters are drunken Ho's. No accomplishment & even less so as a First Lady - though she did "praise" Afgani's for not beating their women anymore for showing ankle under their Burka. That it lasted for about a hot minute is moot, I guess.

If you're for Dean or not, please make sure to slam any media whoredom that would waste breath or print space on topics such a wardrobe or spouses.

I think it'd be great to have Judy Dean as a first lady. We probly wouldn't see her a whole lot and that's fine. We all know she'd be at work helping to make people well. She's a great representative of the average working, married women. I agree with ya'll, a first lady doesn't have to be anything other than what she is. Screw her having to be regal. I think Judy Dean could totally rise to whatever occasion she had to.

More like a military officer's wife, which in essence, makes the First Lady the ultimate officer's wife, as she is married to the Commander in Chief.

True in theory, except the Commander in Chief is a civilian post.

It is important for the first lady to show some sophistication. She does have to meet and host dignitaries and royalty. That doesn't mean she has to be royalty, though.

It'd be nice (for a change) to have a president and first lady who who were normal and down to earth. I think they'd be a good example to America's kids, too.

She seems like a nice lady. However i would not vote for dean because he looked and sounded like a velociraptor on crack in Iowa. We were provided a glimps behind the screen. The cheese fell off his cracker and not even his wife can put it back on.
