Computer Virus Warning from Police.

Someone I know in the Federal Police sent me this email and I thought I had better put it out there for people to see just incase you come across it....Not sure if this is in the right place but if it isn't plz move to the relevant forum...

PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE

Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not be able to fix it!

If you get an email along the lines of 'Osama Bin Laden Captured'

or 'Osama Hanged' don't open the attachment.

This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe .

Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you know.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS:

You should be alert during the next days:

Do not open any message with an attached filed called

Invitation' regardless of who sent it.

disc C of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in
his/her contact list, that is why you should send this e-mail to all your
contacts.

It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus
and open it.

If you receive a mail called 'invitation', though sent by a friend, do
not open it and shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by Microsoft
as the most destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet
for this kind of virus.

This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the
vital information is kept.

This is not the first time a virus has been distributed using the story that Osama has been killed/captured but it's quite possible that it now has a new payload.

also, whenever an email tells you to forward it to everyone you know, there is a 99.9999% chance it is spam.

damn you guys beat me too it.

I recieved the same general email years ago, with a different name for the virus. same virii info "kills sector zero, hard drive useless afterwards, yadda yadda yadda."

I havent seen an email like this for a long time and hoped they died out, but, i guess not.

really how long have e-mails like this been circulating and people still send them

around? but I guess there still a percentage of the overall population which is

still not proficient in the use of technology.

The bolded and underlined part is important.
Whether this is a hoax or not, it is important to know that you should NOT open ANY attachments unless you are absolutely sure you know the sender AND that the message is reliable.
(After all, you may know the sender and maybe he/she isn't aware that what was sent is not safe.)

I can't tell you how many emails with attachments I have deleted. Many of them from friends.
Call me skeptical or paranoid, but I choose to be sure of the source of the link before I click on it.
