OK then staff threads are bumped, are you able to give the reasons for bumping. I assume this would be information that would help ATS in its business endeavors. At what point would business endeavors also include information flow of lets say advertisers, or potential silent partners.

I only see this as a slippery slope, for instance, Fox news supporting Corporate agenda is in the interest of the owners, and stock holders of many Corporations, does that make it just? Is it business as usual and common? Where is the line of promotion of ones own interests drawn.

What information is first seen on the surface is key to managing themes in public discourse, could this listing be member controlled? I discussed this briefly here.
www.abovetopsecret.com...

I also show that Ask.com is actively managing what is put first in front of people in this thread, more slippery slopes.
www.abovetopsecret.com...

I guess I am just unclear of ATS agenda, and methods considered appropriate to carry that out. I like the agenda promoted deny ignorance and just see many ways this can be done. Of coarse these are just my opinions, one of many members thinking about these issues.

The "ATS Agenda" is to do what we can to promote what our members contribute. All aspects of the site home, forum overview pages, hot topics, weekly summary, and weekly email newsletter are determined by member activity from either flagging or replying.

When we "bump" a thread, it's only bumped to the top of the Recent Posts page, and forum index pages.

To be fair, I have compared current pages to Google caches and found no censorship, Google searches of mine have also not revealed any censorship or removal of threads. The times that threads were removed were spoken of with reasons why, even a banning of a person was announced. Bumping of ATS threads is a common practice and I have take liberties by projecting the possible potential uses of this, in what at the minimum, are questioning posts I made.

I have to admit I respect your site.

I also have to admit my agenda, I see a pattern of the Internet being co-oped just like TV was, big media players are a part of this, and there is currently an abundance of evidence that the intentional slanting of news, by corporate, specialized pr, and Intel is occurring.

After hearing about your meeting with media big wigs I worry, although I have no reason to know how ATS will decide, or if the meeting is even going to try and extend any control. I worry a bit about the conflict of profit versus denying ignorance. Right now ignorance is the standard in media and is profitable in the corporate structure. Where truly allowing unfettered flow of information and thought is shunned. Systems are also structured to advance ingnorance.

Except for my perception of elitism, something that could be charged against me considering the indications that lead me to it, Rats and secrecy, I think this site is great, and share links here to many people.

Your responce I also hope happens, I hope to see visitors here increase also, more opinions, more thoughts, more discussions.

The reason you see threads bumped by the staff is give notice to members about certain things pertaining to the site.

Dave and Johnny will bump ATSMIX threads in hope of getting more member participation in them. Promoting their shows is an important part of what they do. Also, ATSMIX is an integral part of the Above Networks plans I think, so keeping it current and active is important.

You'll also notice that particular threads get bumped by staff that deal with board business and the like. For instance, in Breaking news there is a post on "before submitting news" by staff member UM_GAZZ. It gets bumped from time to time to keep people noticing it and the rules involved in posting news. These bumps usually happen when there is a trend that the post deals with, such as quoting or courtesy is mandatory.

The only possible secrecy on this site is in the staff section and I think that ones self explanatory and RATS. I would not classify RATS as secret because it can be accessed, you just need the points to do it. You don't need to be a long time member or"special" in any way, you just need to have accumulated 5000 points across ATS, AP and BTS. You yourself have only been here about 2 and half months and you could access it if you choose.

I know from reading other posts of yours on ATS that your not very fond of secrecy in any form but I think you reading way to much into it here. Thats just my opinion though so take it for what it is worth, which isn't much.

Is Rats 5000 points for 1 month, so you need another 5000 every month, or is it a one time expenditure of 5000 points.

If it is a one time expenditure, then my thoughts on that are totally wrong.

My point about rats is that entry is gained by points given by moderators, so the top picks who is included. This is the structure of elite organization, plus it is kept from others. This gives me an opinion on structure, just my opinion.

If it is one time fee, then that makes sense, it is just rewarding participating members, and is not the top members "self defining" qualification for entry.

Either way, as you stated, it is my aversion to secrecy at a level above most others tolerances, so you are correct in that it is my own opinion on it.

RATS is a one time 5000 point cost. After one month it costs 250 points to renew your access. And this 250 point cost remains whether you renew the next month or you wait a year to renew. You never pay the 5000 points again.

Ok I'm done derailing this now.

So Redge, have you got any new ideas on the "dollean" quote/wordscramble yet?

Yea I derailed this thing pretty bad myself, Thanks for Rats clarification that really removes one of my objectives, and shows that my incomplete info added to my perception.

I have my initial interpretations, so far I have not seen anyone really find anything on the decoding.

Since no one else has mentioned having any progress with the word jumble, I'll post what I have so far. It isn't much, but maybe it will help one of you. I've just found a few short phrases that I don't believe have been mentioned before, but I still wind up with letters that I can't make anything coherent out of.

Attempt 1:

Imagine - An independant society, using one voice to deny ignorance....

Leaving: HLLVAOFSTBELCULTFST

Attempt 2:

Imagaine a group dedicated to the investigation of unconventional beliefs...

Leaving: CELNYYNSSCNLL

Attempt 3:

Intent on encouraging open debate and discussion of many topics

Leaving: TIGHTENLOYALVIILFENCEELVEL

Obviously none of these is anywhere close to perfect, but perhaps there is a word or phrasing that could work into what one of you is working on. I just shifted the letters around until I found words and phrases that sounded like they might be part of a mission statement of sorts for ATS.

Hopefully one of you is having better luck.

hmmm.....
Have there been any "famous/infamous" gatecrashers of late?
The only one I can think of thats worth noticing is the WeAreChange group on Bill Maher's show.
Some great focusing of the 9/11 truth movemnet wouldn't be part of our revolution would it? I know SO has mentioned it before that the whole movemnet needs a refocusing but I don't think that would be it.
Ok I'll think about this one for a bit.
Time to go to work.

googled "gatecrasher" whoopie do!
I got a video game, an advertising agency, and a techno band from Sheffield.(I prefer the Def Leppard boys, thanks.)
Still searching.
Gatecrasher could be the word or we are looking for another word that means the same thing perhaps?

A gatecrasher from History could be many folks as well. And time is quickly running out.

Woot!!!!

Check this out ATS made the NY Daily News!!

Gatecrasher

Saucers' apprentice

When "Law & Order: SVU" star Richard Belzer isn't busy on the set, he has one eye on the heavens searching for UFOs.

"I've been looking for them my whole life," he told me Friday. Then, about five years ago in Pennsylvania, "I saw one, finally, but I don't know what it was."

Belzer has recently become involved with AboveTopSecret.com, one of the leading Web sites about conspiracy theories. And UFOs!

"It wasn't an airplane; it wasn't making any sound," he recalled. "It was pretty close to the Earth; it was very strange looking. That doesn't eliminate the possibility that it could be [from] our government."

Showing the flair of a true conspiracy theorist, he added darkly: "Or another government."
